2 Kings 4

Well, getting my cheaters on here.

We're in 2 Kings 4.

And I just have to say, this chapter in the Bible is extraordinary.

It's miracle after miracle after

But if it's two days, yeah, we're calling.

Hey, what's going on, right? So this morning, she sent me a meme with the scripture on 2 Kings 4, verse 1 through 7.

And if anyone knows that, it's about the woman who...

Her husband had died.

Then she picked up her son and went out.

That was 2 Kings 4, verses 1-37.

Now from the Apostles, our final portion is Hebrews 11, verses 8-19.

By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to a place he was to receive as an inheritance.

So this afternoon, kindly stand with me today.

If you have your Bible with me, kindly open it with me in the book of second Kings 4:7.

Uh, chapter four verse one up to seven, and then let us read in Psalms 23:6, and then Psalms 122:1.

What the Bible said in second K-Kings chapter four verse one to seven in Kings James Version, "Now there cried a certain woman of the wives of the son of the prophets unto Elisa, saying, 'Thy servant, my husband, is dead.

So the parallel between 1 Kings 17...

And what we just read in 2 Kings 4 is, I mean, it's obvious.

You know, we've got this never-ending oil and the never-ending flour.

And in a sense, Elijah's miracle is greater, right? Elijah's miracle wasn't just until you ran out of vessels.

Maybe he's not saying you're going to get pregnant immediately.

Well, and here's another, two more little points.

One is, in both Genesis 18 and 2 Kings 4, she's standing at the entrance, and it uses the same word for entrance, hetach, which is not unusual, but it could have said deletor or something, but she's listening or standing at the entrance.

and the other thing is there's a response of disbelief in both passages so you can't say there's no connection anybody who would hear this standing in the synagogue when the Jews were forbidden from reading the Torah portion under the Greek persecution they'd say okay well we don't need to read the Sarah story everybody knows the Sarah story let's read 2 Kings 4 which hasn't been forbidden by the Greeks and everyone will know will think back to the story of Sarah because it's the same exact phraseology the same exact terms and And look, we also have an old husband and a woman without a child in both cases.

But I'm gonna read a story from the Bible.

And it says in 2 Kings 4, I'm sure many of you are familiar with the story.

It says, now there cried a certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets unto Elisha saying, my servant, my husband is dead.

And thou knowest that thy servant did fear the Lord.

Please turn in your Bible to 2 Kings 4.

Let's read together now from 2 Kings 4.

And with that in mind, let's read 1 Kings 21 verses 1 through 3.

And it came to pass after these things that Naboth the Jezreelite had a vineyard.

which was in Jezreel, hard by the palace of Ahab, king of Samaria.

I'm going to talk to you.

Well, Pastor, that's Jezebel.

She's in 1 Kings 21.

No, no, no, no, no, no.

And when she says yes to making room to what she didn't think she had room for, She finds the miracle that changes her life and her son's.

I could go on to the woman that we know about in 2 Kings 4, where she has just a little oil.

I just have a little oil.

I have nothing.

And I don't want you to have less than you could have because you didn't go make room for more that God wants to give you all throughout Scripture.

Story after story of those moments where someone had to decide, can I? Will I? make more room today this is the challenge that God has assigned me to put to you Church of the Highlands could you would you make more room one of my favorite stories in the Bible is a story that I have preached from multiple times I have preached from it over the last 33 years now.

I'm preaching many times because there are many miracles within this story in 2 Kings 4, 8.

There are multiple miracles.
