2 Chronicles 6

We'll look at four scriptures very quickly, again, for a topic, Rest on Me: Exploring the Riches of His Glory.

2 Chronicles 6:41, our first text for tonight, 2 Chronicles 6.

So for a context, this was David or Solomon.

Whilst he was dedicating the temple in Jerusalem, he prayed a number of prayers, and among the things that he said, he made a conclusion with this statement.

It's important you understand doctrine, you understand the principles of the kingdom, you understand the modus operandi, you see.

Number three, the worship platform.

This is day number 262, and today we read 2 Chronicles 6, our second reading in Proverbs 27, and our first reading in Matthew 10.

May the Lord bless you real good today.

Turning to 2 Chronicles 6, yesterday we heard of the various things that Huram Abi made under Solomon's direction for the temple and of the dedication of the temple.

In today's not-reverent language, we might say that the Lord showed up for that dedication, just like he did for the dedication of the tabernacle.

2 Chronicles 6 Then Solomon prayed, O Lord, you have said that you would live in a thick cloud of darkness.

Now I have built a glorious temple for you, a place where you can live forever.

Then the king turned around to the entire community of Israel standing before him and gave this blessing.

The Shekinah.

or Shekinah, some people pronounce it, in 2 Chronicles 5, 13, where it showed up, and then 2 Chronicles 6, verse 1, where Solomon gets up and says, this Shekinah glory, this cloud, this dark cloud is a Shekinah glory, or Shekinah, some people would pronounce it.

And what it meant is this heavy, Yeah,

it's a weight.

It goes through a long list of all the exact detail of everything, the gold, the silver, the bronze, the type of wood that it was used, the bricks, how they were built off-site because this area around the temple was to be a place of peace, and they couldn't hear the hammer or the axe around the temple.

But we pick up the story, if you want to turn in your Bibles to 2 Chronicles 6.

This is what the Word of God says as he's dedicating the temple to God.

Chapter 6, verse 12.

If we're in a battle and we start to lose because of our sin, we repent and we come back to you.

Please forgive us.

He goes through this and then we pick it up in verse 41, same chapter, 2 Chronicles 6, verse 41.

And then he prays this prayer of dedication over the temple.

The fire of heaven.

Go with me to 2 Chronicles 6.

And I want to read an account of when King Solomon offers a temple.

It took him seven years to build a temple.

And as he offers a temple, something very powerful happens.

So go with me to 2 Chronicles 6.

We'll start in verse 40.

So he begins to pray.
