A more proven superstar of this era was writer Brian Azzarello, and Bulletproof was a look at his impressive three-year run on DC's 100 Bullets with artist Eduardo Riso, which had proven to be very popular, even earning the pair an Eisner Award.

This Vertigo title certainly pushed the envelope in terms of content.

As Jim Lee explained, Brian and Eduardo are not afraid, in the least, to go where you don't expect them to go.

You can't beat the concept.

It's just a great idea and the best stories come from great ideas.

For those unfamiliar with the series, 100 Bullets is an anthology series of sorts where the mysterious Agent Graves shows up to deliver 100 unmarked, untraceable bullets to people that have been wronged and are looking for revenge, allowing them to use the ammo in any way they choose.

The article basically provides the greatest hits rundown of the book so far.

Expecting Issue 2 of that soon.

Then we've got 100 Bullets to US of Anger, Issue 6.

So that's continuing.

And then we have Dark Nights of Steel 2, Issue 6, which Tom Taylor, Otto Schmidt, as expected, we're halfway through that at this point.

Uh, I've, I've read almost all, all the Vertigo books.

100 Bullets was my favorite-

... uh, book for a while.

It really is.

Yeah.

I was, uh, I, I was rereading some '100 Bullets' recently and yeah, it really holds up.

I will say, like, the, the one thing I've always been aware of, and is that, like, the thing that dates your comic more than anything is what the cellphone looks like.

Uh, what else we got? Well, we did, um, this is, it's, I mean, I'm, I'm, I'm okay with it because of the story that's, that, that they're telling.

Uh, And I know we're not even at the halfway mark yet, but I wonder if... because it's been a minute since we've gotten anything from The World of 100 Bullets, if this story is moving slower than previous arcs from this series, from 100 Bullets.

The third issue, it's...

I mean, things happened.

And I...

I mean, I suspected that after we saw Lono taking a phone call from his bosses in that beautiful modern home, that it was the trust, which of course was disbanded.

At the end of 100 Bullets, it looks like the trust never really, or the trust never dies.

And ultimately, in this, we get the two white supremacist podcasters who are excited because they have a case of new whiskey delivered to them from a prospective new advertiser.

Good stuff.

Yeah, you know, maybe you've heard of it.

And again, especially because of time.

So we got Dead Man, 100 Bullets, Supergirl, Survive.

I don't know anything about that comic.

It's issue four.

Understood, man.

Well, that – Starting with 100 Bullets and Scalped and things like that, Vertigo had – that's when I came back to comics was the late 90s, early 2000s.

Yeah, man, because, you know, I don't know.

You know, and it's so funny now because I have tremendous respect for all the image movement that happened in the 90s.

I don't understand what the point of this is.

And I had said in the past I'd criticize it in terms of saying maybe I lack the context because I haven't read 100 Bullets.

And you've read 100 Bullets and you said you didn't have the context for it last time either.

[upbeat music] DC Comics has announced a slew of new comics hitting the compact comics line next year, kicking things off on January 5 with Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon's Preacher.

Per ICv2, the same day DC will release 100 Bullets followed by Batgirl: Year One on February 16, Superman: Man of Steel by John Byrne on March 16, and John Constantine, Hellblazer and Catwoman: When in Rome both in April.

And then on July 1st, eight days before the Superman sequel Man of Tomorrow hits theaters, the publisher will release a massive Superman compact comics box set that includes four previously released Super Family compact comics as well as the thus far unannounced Superman: Brainiac by Geoff Johns and Gary Frank, and Superman's Secret Identity by Kurt Busiek and Stuart Immonen.
