1 Kings 19

And everybody else in the world is shouting.

Remember this story in 1 Kings 19, verse 11 to 13.

God told Elijah, go stand in the presence of the Lord outside your cave on the mountain.

So Elijah goes outside and he's gonna get a multimedia presentation from God.

I'm just going to highlight the, uh, the book and the chapter and, um, have people go look it up if they want to for time's sake.

So for example, was it very, very possible that people in the scriptures were contemplating suicide? First Kings 19, when Elijah was running from Jezebel, he told the Lord, he said, "Lord, let me die now.

Just go ahead and take me out." How many times when we've been under spiritual warfare or it looks like things are not going to go our way, sometimes that's entered our mind.

Another one was in Job chapter two, when Job, Job's wife encouraged Job to just kill himself because he sinned God.

That's what we read in 2 Thessalonians 2.15 and 2 Thessalonians 3.6. Now one more introductory verse.

Come to 1 Kings 19.

As we move through various issues this evening, we'll be careful to point out which of them are biblical and which of them are traditional.

1 Kings 19.

Look at verse number 18 with me.

1 Kings 19.

In verse number 18, don't have time to read the entire passage, but you're familiar with the context here.

The Holy Ghost has not anointed us so that we can look spiritual.

or jesus i said the holy ghost has not anointed us to look spiritual but he has anointed us to heal the very thing that religion cannot fix and i'm talking to a group of people tonight that you are here for a reason you want an outpour of the fresh fire of the holy ghost let me let me preach to somebody here tonight i just want to allow what the holy spirit wants me to do i want you to understand the spirit of god is doing a specific thing in this very moment If you study the Bible in the book of 1 Kings 19, the Bible speaks about a man of God called Elijah.

And Elijah was a man powerfully used by God.

But I believe what the Lord is saying to me in this very hour, so many times we look at the moves of Elijah.

First Samuel...

Um, First Kings 19.

Look at it.

And Jezebel sent a messenger to Elijah, "So let the gods do to me and more also if I do not make your life as one of them by tomorrow about this time." [laughs] Ah, Jezzy.

Uh, what a great show.

Uh, we're gonna be, uh, talking about, uh, 1 Kings 19 and all that happened there with, uh, Elijah, and Ahab, and Jezebel, and the prophets of Baal.

What a, what a great encounter, and so many lessons that we can learn all these many, what, 2,700-ish years later about how to be still and just listen for the voice of the Lord, and, and recognize His presence, and rest in His presence.

I mean, and there is.

And 1 Kings 19, I gotta tell ya, I enjoyed this so much.

Uh, James talks about, um, Elijah being a man just like us.

Number one, prophets are called by God.

See 1 Kings 19 verse 16 and verses 19 to 21 and Isaiah chapter 6.

Often they feel unworthy and are reluctant to assume their responsibility, but they obey.
