He and his brother remember that after their father attended the 6th General Assembly of the World Blind Union in Cape Town in 2004, he came away with the idea inspired by Nelson Mandela that we have to, quote, move from disability to ability, disharmony to harmony, and disadvantage to advantage.

So, Whai Kaha came about to reflect that sentiment.

He says, He'd also not be surprised if the word was influenced by the kupu whai ora, which was already used in the mental health and addiction space in which both his parents worked.

Jason and Jason, thank you for your stewardship of our library, and thank you especially for continuing to engage blind people in finding new innovative ways to expand the service and find new cool products to give blind people access to.

I had the opportunity to... to take the North American Caribbean region of the World Blind Union, the leadership there, to the Library of Congress, hosted by the National Library Service.

And I believe that Jason Broughton has become an excellent steward of this program and truly believes in the importance of it.
