This is September 10th, 2026, and this is Read Through the Bible.

And we're back again in the book of Ezekiel.

That's right.

We did chapters 1 and 2 yesterday, and today we're going to do chapters 3 and 4.

And I sat where they were dwelling.

And I sat there, overwhelmed among them for seven days.

I've been preaching through the book of Job, and it kind of similar sounds like some long mourning period, if you will.

He's just aghast.

Today is Tuesday, September 8th, 2026, and this is Read Through the Bible.

And we're going to read an entire book of the Bible today.

That's right.

We're going to read Philemon, and it's just one chapter, 25 verses.

And so do Mark, Aristarchus, Demas, and Luke, my fellow workers.

The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit.

It's the book of Philemon.

It's a short one today.

We're recording this on Sunday night.

Okay, we're going to read the entire book of Titus today.

Titus is one of the pastoral epistles.

That is, Paul's writing a letter not to a church, but to a pastor.

One of the Cretans, a prophet of their own, said, This testimony is true.

Okay, now the interesting thing from here is that Titus is asking for elders, godly people, to be pulled from the party of these Cretans who at one time were liars and evil beasts and lazy gluttons.

And so it's just the transforming power of the gospel is what the book of Titus is about.

Verse 13, this testimony is true.

which

was his last book.

Yeah, and so we're going to finish chapters 3 and 4 is what we're going to read today.

And they're really the last words that he wrote.

The Lord be with your spirit.

Grace be with you.

There's the end of the book of 2 Timothy, chapter 4.

Just preach the word, because I have fought the good fight, and then all these interactions with all the people as Timothy's urge to come soon.

Even as we were preparing, I was talking about how chapter 4, verses 6 through 16 would be worthy of a

book.

Just in terms of just writing a pastoral book about all the different commands and counsels of what a pastor is called to be and to do.

Right.

How to be a good servant of Christ Jesus.

There's chapter 6, contentment, and then he talks about fighting the fight of faith, and he talks about being rich in good works, not just rich in material

possessions.

A rich book is 1 Timothy.

getting going.

Okay, so we're going to read an entire book of the Bible today.

That's right, 2 Thessalonians.

So it's Paul's second letter to the church at Thessalonica.

because God chose them just election here as clear as a bell about God's choosing them and Paul is just giving thanks to God how'd you know that in in chapter 1 at least so from 1st Thessalonians just by the fruit of what it is that they show in their lives

they turned from idols to a living God yep

Okay, and so chapter three, and we're soon to finish the book.

Finally, brothers, pray for us that the word of the Lord may speed ahead and be honored as happened among you and that we may be delivered from wicked and evil men.

So we're going to do all the T books, Thessalonians, Timothy, and Titus.

And then we're going to pick up the P book, Philemon.

Yep.

But we are reading today 1 Thessalonians 1-3, and of all of Paul's epistles, this is just very pastoral and loving towards the church in Thessalonica.

The key to this whole book comes in chapter 3, verse 6, in which Paul writes, But now that Timothy has come to us from you...

And has brought us the good news of your faith and love and reported that you always remember us kindly and long to see us as we long to see you.

And then he goes on to write, but he basically says that Timothy's come back and give them a good report.

He didn't know how they were doing because he had to leave so suddenly.

We're going to read chapters 4 and 5.

And if you remember, the peak and the climax and the hope of the book comes right in the middle of chapter 3.

In fact, right in the middle of the middle of chapter 3.

And just where it says that even in the midst of all my sorrow, I hope in the steadfast love of God.

There's Jeremiah submitting himself into the sovereign care of God whose mercies are new every morning and his steadfast love endures forever.

Okay, and we will see you tomorrow.

... where we overviewed the whole book.

It'd be super helpful for you to listen to that as you just kind of put Jeremiah in your mind.

Uh, today we're gonna start another book that Jeremiah wrote.

That's right.

It's called Lamentations.

Yeah, because he is weeping over the destruction of Jerusalem.

The Book of Jeremiah was all leading up to the destruction of Jerusalem and how Babylon's gonna come and exile everybody, but now it's happened, and now Jeremiah's basically looking over the city and, and wailing for the judgment that has taken place, that, that God has, uh, taken upon His people.

And that was just a super, super nice thing that we were super encouraged by.

And we're going to finish the book of Jeremiah today.

That's right.

Chapter 52 is the last chapter, and that's today.

Yeah, and we've been reading this book of the Bible since July 14th.

Just kind of plugging away at it.

It's a great book that speaks about repentance in different ways and tells different stories.

But we're going to do as we normally do when we finish a book.
