Lancashire Wildlife Trust

These wonderful big beasts will graze the dunes from October through till April and you can find them on Ainsdale Local Nature Reserve and Birkdale Local Nature Reserve as well.

The herd is owned by Lancashire Wildlife Trust but the cattle do a great job for us in winter trampling down rank vegetation left by autumn and munching on invasive scrub which might otherwise shade out the habitat.

So it'll be really great to see them again.

More about them next month.
