I'm Dr. Sandro Galea, Dean of the Burski School of Public Health at Washington University in St. Louis and Editor-in-Chief of JAMA Health Forum.

Today we are talking about rural health in the United States, the widening rural-urban health divide, the contraction of the systems that care for the 66 million Americans who live in rural places, and what the current policy moment may mean for the health of rural populations.

Rural Americans have been losing ground on a range of health indicators for two decades.

So Congress decided America would throw a fair, and at the time, four cities started clawing at each other for it.
