Nota BaloyiGUEST
40:18
And then talk about how I'm getting a percentage of the ad like you're about to with that Sing Studio.
Nota BaloyiGUEST
40:22
You know what I mean? Percentage of an ad while a Vodacom ad is playing on all the smoke.
Nota BaloyiGUEST
40:27
Okay.
BruceGUEST
40:28
Those are theories.

10 MINS LATER

BruceGUEST
50:56
Don't say wild stuff like that.
Nota BaloyiGUEST
50:58
Why do you think? You see Capitech there.
Nota BaloyiGUEST
51:00
You see Vodacom there.
Nota BaloyiGUEST
51:01
You see all these big brands.
DumiGUEST
49:32
So after 90 days, that SIM card just stops working immediately.
Stephen GrootesHOST
49:35
Okay, so that would mean that MTN, Vodacom, Cell C, and the South Africans would not be able to issue eSIMs to foreigners, but foreigners would be able to come to South Africa to use eSIMs that would be lodged in other countries.
DumiGUEST
49:50
Correct, yeah.
DumiGUEST
49:51
That's the loophole.
DumiGUEST
49:52
Correct.
DumiGUEST
49:52
So Vodacom, Cell C, I mean, this is for them to take up.
DumiGUEST
49:56
Vodacom, Cell C, MTN, and all the other networks that roam on these networks, me and you and all of those, they can't issue ESIMs because basically the criteria for that is what she's speaking about is now biometrics, proof of residence, and all the rigorous requirements that we have.
DumiGUEST
50:16
I guess, inversely, a South African who can't get himself a normal SIM, I guess, could go into the internet, get himself an eSIM, and roam on the South African network.
Graham FieldGUEST
22:18
There it is now.
Graham FieldGUEST
22:19
So I'm in the Vodacom balloon and the net's on the other side.
Graham FieldGUEST
22:22
And there's the Vodacom balloon on the bottom now.
Graham FieldGUEST
22:24
So you jump out of one hot air balloon, open your parachute, and you're going to catch onto the net and the other one.
Ruben DelmageHOST
22:29
Yeah.
Mark FurmanGUEST
44:28
If I never spoke to another call center agent for the rest of my life, I'll be the happiest person.
Mark FurmanGUEST
44:34
So if you've got a call center and they say, yeah, here's an avatar that will do the whole story and not just your little Vodacom type, you know, something really professional.
Mark FurmanGUEST
44:45
If the person who decided to implement that call center, whose livelihood is at stake because they run it or they are responsible, et cetera, is going to fight against it.
Mark FurmanGUEST
44:57
When you've got a new startup and you say, right, we're starting up.
Stephen GrootesHOST
17:55
Good evening.
Stephen GrootesHOST
17:57
And after a post-close update from Vodacom, their earnings will be up quite nicely.
Stephen GrootesHOST
18:01
Chris Stewart, are you putting off your return for some reason? Well, we seem to have lost him.
Stephen GrootesHOST
18:08
We'll just put Chris Stewart back there for a moment and see if we're able to resolve that very quickly.
Stephen GrootesHOST
19:06
There does indeed seem to be one or two issues.
Stephen GrootesHOST
19:10
I think Chris Stewart with us now.
Stephen GrootesHOST
19:12
Chris, sorry about that, but an update from Vodacom just after the close.
Stephen GrootesHOST
19:20
All right, Chris Stewart, I'm told, is with us now.
Jon NewyddHOST
71:19
Yeah, this analogy is really falling apart very, very quickly.
Jon NewyddHOST
71:24
I don't know if they've... 14 box in Vodacom.
Jon NewyddHOST
71:31
So, yeah, they've got 14...
Jon NewyddHOST
71:34
Oh, no, that's in their Champions Cup squad.
Stephen GrootesHOST
0:06
Good evening.
Stephen GrootesHOST

And after a post-close update from Vodacom, their earnings will be up quite nicely.
Chris StewartGUEST
0:11
Okay, so Vodacom came out with a trading update after the close today.
Chris StewartGUEST
0:15
I think you need to ignore the earnings per share guidance of plus 272 to 279%, largely because there's a technical non-cash item in there, which is the revaluations.
Chris StewartGUEST
0:29
of their stake in Safaricom.
Aubrey MasangoHOST
35:26
Sibu Interventin, thank you very much for your call.
Aubrey MasangoHOST
35:29
It's an interesting story, isn't it? Somebody just sent me a message to say, I work at the Vodacom Precinct in Midrand.
Aubrey MasangoHOST
35:38
There are, what, six or seven restaurants at the Vodacom Precinct.
Aubrey MasangoHOST
35:44
And none of them are allowed to sell bacon, despite the fact that the majority of the people that work and come to that precinct for business and whatever are not Muslim.
Aubrey MasangoHOST
35:58
And for that reason, I have an issue.

Aubrey MasangoHOST
44:03
My understanding was that the certification of certain foods to be halal or kosher was to say that those who observe Jewry or Islam are are welcome to participate in these gastronomies because they are halal or kosher but that doesn't exclude anybody that isn't jewish or uh or um or muslim in the enjoyment of that food but the counter argument from some is to say but in a country where the majority of the people are not Jewish or Muslim.
Aubrey MasangoHOST
44:43
Why is it that they have to be compelled to not enjoy bacon at a particular restaurant or not enjoy alcohol at a particular restaurant, particularly if they have done so for the longest time? This feels like an imposition.
Aubrey MasangoHOST
45:01
In fact, somebody has now just written to me to say, at Vodacom, none of the restaurants at the Vodacom precinct are allowed to sell bacon.
Rob ForbesHOST
3:45
Ella is blow, blow, blow.
Rob ForbesHOST
3:48
The Vodacom who? The Vodacom hoomst.
Rob ForbesHOST
3:51
The Vodacom hoomst.
Rob ForbesHOST
3:53
Okay, tell you what.
Rob ForbesHOST
3:56
Producer Wayne is on the phone.
Rob ForbesHOST
4:27
Okay, Balfapalooza.
Rob ForbesHOST
4:29
Boom.
Rozanne McKenzieHOST
4:30
Which men's rugby team calls the Loftus Stadium home? The Vodacom? Thank you.
Faizel PatelGUEST
4:56
Yeah, look, I mean, if you look at online learning, I mean, just The whole issue that we had was spectrum.
Faizel PatelGUEST
5:03
Spectrum is basically bandwidth which allows the likes of Vodacom, MTN, and many others to ensure that they roll out cheaper and faster internet.
Faizel PatelGUEST
5:13
We've seen that during the COVID era where eCasa again rolled out broadband or spectrum to the service operators or mobile service operators because predominantly people were working from home, some schools were closed.
Faizel PatelGUEST
5:27
And obviously, I mean, I was working from home and I needed the fast internet and I didn't need downtime.
