And so, um, I, to this day, I still don't know why, but, but, uh, I, David got fired too at the same time, except his firing was much more legitimate.

Warner Brothers bought out the company and then went on to produce The Matrix with Village Roadshow.

Okay, so this joint venture was called Priya Village Roadshow Limited, commonly abbreviated as PVR.

It, uh, be- eventually became the Indian multiplex chain known as PVR Cinemas.

The venture was incorporated in April 1995 as 60/40 partnership between Priya Exhibitors Private Limited, which was 60%, and Village Roadshow Limited of Australia at 40%.

The first major multiplex opened at Saket, New Delhi, and the company is widely credited with helping introduce the modern multiplex to India.

Village Roadshow later decided to withdraw from sever- several of its international investments, and in November 28, 2002, it sold its entire stake in the Indian venture to Priya Exhibitors.

The company's legal name was subsequently changed from Priya Village Roadshow Limited to PVR Limited.
