Vast Space

Vast Space

Vast is developing next-generation space stations and space infrastructure to ensure continuous human presence in space for America and its allies, enabling advanced microgravity research and manufacturing, and unlocking a new space economy for government, corporate, and private customers. Using an incremental, hardware-rich and low-cost approach, Vast is rapidly developing its multi-module Haven Station. Haven Demo’s 2025 success made Vast the only operational commercial space station company to fly and operate its own spacecraft. Next, Haven-1 is expected to become the world’s first commercial space station when it launches in 2027, followed by additional Haven modules to enable permanent human presence by 2030. With more than 1,000 employees at its Long Beach, California, headquarters and over a billion dollars in private capital invested, Vast has built the facilities required to manufacture and operate America’s next space station. The company plans to develop future habitats for the Moon and Mars, dedicated space stations for government partners, and other crewed systems that will unlock the expanding long-term space economy.www.vastspace.com

So SpaceX can't get rid of Falcon 9 and replace it with Starship until the end of the space station.
Scott ManleyHOST
33:20
And finally, Vast.
Scott ManleyHOST
33:25
Vast started out as a crypto bro who was wanting to build a space station, minimal viable product of space station for short stays with cool looks.
Scott ManleyHOST
33:35
Now they are... selling a satellite bus.
Scott ManleyHOST
33:38
This is a high power satellite bus with big solar panels, 15 kilowatts of solar power, flat panel bus so they can stack these on various spacecraft, dry mass of 700 kilograms.
Ariel EkblawGUEST
9:43
And we really want to be able to have the buckyball module that we are designing and be part of one of the commercial space stations that's going to come online in the next four to five years to replace the ISS.
Ariel EkblawGUEST
9:56
So we're working with a bunch of different partners like VAST, Axiom, you know, talking to a bunch of these different, really interesting commercial companies that are trying to replace the volume of the ISS or start working towards that.
Ariel EkblawGUEST
10:08
And then we would love to see the Buckyball be able to be an attachment to one of those commercial space stations, kind of show and demonstrate next generation space architecture technology.
Matt GallowayHOST
10:18
This is wild to think about, the idea of building something at that scale in space, not having to send it up in a tube or something like that.
David GrisellHOST
12:38
NASA has officially released an RFP for Phase 2 of its Commercial LEO Destinations Program, or CLD.
David GrisellHOST
12:47
This phase transitions private space station developers such as Axiom Space, VAST, and Starlab, from initial design concepts to firm development, deployment, and operational contracts as NASA prepares for the International Space Station's retirement, a huge opportunity for space tech startups.
David GrisellHOST
13:09
And next, we'll plug into energy tech.

John McFallGUEST
5:40
So why not assign me to a flight as well?
Sue NelsonHOST

Now, the UK Space Agency announced fairly recently about this partnership with VAST and with the possibility of you going on board this Haven 1.
Sue NelsonHOST

But right now, ISS is designed to retire in '30.
Robert ZimmermanGUEST
51:11
The private stations, you're gonna see, um, a single-module station launched privately by a company called VAST next year.
Robert ZimmermanGUEST
51:19
They're gonna r- have it up for three years.
Robert ZimmermanGUEST
51:21
They're gonna have four missions, manned missions to it.
Robert ZimmermanGUEST

The, uh, these are private stations.
Robert ZimmermanGUEST

NASA is hiring the stations to run its mission.
Robert ZimmermanGUEST
52:35
ESA had signed contract with both VAST and, um, uh, the Starlab station to run missions there.
