University of Zimbabwe

Most people that go to the local unis, they go to like another town.

The most famous university, I think, is the University of Zimbabwe in Harare.

That's like the main city.

So they have residential halls there.

And we were actually set up because when I arrived in Zimbabwe to teach mathematics, in my first week, they put us up in a hotel and gave us an orientation for a week.

And during that week, I went over to the University of Zimbabwe and walked into the mathematics department and knocked on the door and just met this professor.

His name was Temba Shoniwa.

And we became friends.

Tekla is the first occupational therapist from the African region to hold the position as president and previously served as the WFOT program coordinator for education from 2018 to 2024.

She's an associate professor and head of rehabilitation sciences at the University of Zimbabwe.

She holds a PhD, an MSc in Occupational Therapy, an MSc in Clinical Epidemiology, and a BSc in Occupational Therapy.

Richard is the Executive Director of the World Federation of Occupational Therapists, where he leads the organization's operational management, including finance, strategic development, communications, and the WFOT Congress.

... and taught at the University of Zimbabwe.

Mm.

Mm.

So it also further fueled my interest, uh, in science and discovery and all.

In fact, you know, speaking of AI, the, the very first thing I ever published in my whole life in a scientific journal was a, the, a paper that came out of my undergraduate, uh, thesis at the University of Zimbabwe.

It was entitled Training an Artificial Neural Network, and that paper, I published that paper in a journal in 1992.

Hmm.
