University of Mannheim

So it's less of this week's media mention and more of an interesting study that I came across.

It is a University of Mannheim study.

And the article that I found it in was a UC Berkeley magazine called Greater Good Magazine.

And the article was called Why Is It So Hard to Be Vulnerable?, And it was about this research study where researchers at the University of Mannheim tested Brene Brown's claim that we judge vulnerability differently depending on who's doing it.

And they found in this study that people consistently rate a vulnerable moment as admirable in someone else, but exposure or, dare I say, cringe in themselves.

And the line that the study is built around is, I'm quoting here, vulnerability is courage in you and inadequacy in me.

In 2013, Alois Jacob Crost arrived in the United States to attend a conference, and while he was in the country he decided to go on a few hikes.

Alois worked as a professor at the University of Mannheim in Germany and was well-liked and respected among his colleagues.

On August 1st, 2013, he headed out to the San Bernardino Mountains in California with a hiking group.

The plan was for the group to hike the Pinnacle Trail in the Lake Arrowhead area.

A model can win the benchmark and lose the instant it meets a person.

Here's Andreea Aiana, a researcher at the University of Mannheim who studies news recommendations and filter bubbles.
