University of Latvia

Okay

... who is a professor at the University of Latvia in Europe.

Oh, very good.

And we also have a new book, uh, forthcoming, Feeling Free, but that's not, uh, not out yet.

She spoke with a journalist and the BBC translated her responses.

A long time ago, I graduated from Latvian State University.

Max grew up in the 1980s in Soviet Union and managed to pick up coding work in Russia.

Max has a degree in applied mathematics and wanted more than anything to become a computer programmer.

Yeah

... and next question, uh, it's about the Latvian University.

Is it true that Kristians contacted around 200 agents this summer to find players?

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

... to, to write in our chat, in our big chat.

[laughs]

But, but guys, uh, recruiting in Latvian, in Latvian clubs, uh, Kristians always, he told his, uh, Latvian University story, but overall, how would you, how would you describe, how's the situation? Uh, is it professional? Is it, like, could it be better?

I think it's, it's getting better the last couple of years, uh, the last few years, I, I think.

And I'm just curious, what made you go into this contentious area of World War II, and particularly in the Baltics?

It's a long and winding path, but it started when I chose somewhat randomly as an undergraduate student to study abroad at the University of Latvia in Riga.

And I knew relatively little about Latvia at that point, but I was always interested in Eastern Europe, in the history of Germany and Russia.

And what I noticed pretty quickly after arriving there was how present World War II was in Riga and in broader Latvia.

And then I organized myself with my friends and close friends and colleagues, two conferences dedicated to therapeutic potential of psychedelics in Latvia.

Last one together with Latvian University last year.

Are you going to do another one in the future?

I'm thinking about it now, but I need to find the right angle because after the last conference, actually, I felt very positive.
