So I'm doing mine at the University of, used to be the University of Central Lancashire.

They've just rebranded to University of Lancashire.

They offer a fantastic hybrid course, which is the one that I'm on, where essentially all the academic stuff, your lectures and such are online and then your clinics only are in person.

So that course is designed as a part time course for people like me who practice full time.

Well, Sarisa Robinson, disaster psychologist at the University of Lancashire, and Theo Michaels, who has written a book called Canned, a collection of recipes using tinned foods.

Thank you both for your prepping suggestions.

So for two years as a student, he was looking into the psychology of electronic voice phenomena.

And this comes all the way up to present day with Dr. Ann Winsper, who at the University of Central Lancashire, as it was called, it's now University of Lancashire, she did her PhD on the psychology of EVP.

So that's probably the most recent kind of full study you can read on the internet because everyone's PhD is open access.

So in the book Paracoustics that I edited with Steve Parsons, there was a whole chapter I wrote on the history of EVP.

Named after Nancy Grace Roman, the first astronomer at the administration, NASA is hoping Roman will also help solve some mysteries.

Well, joining us now to talk about that is Dr. Megan Argo, an astrophysicist from the University of Lancashire in the UK.

[news jingle] Coming up here on News Hour, a month after tens of thousands of migrants forced their way into Ceuta, tensions remain high in the Spanish exclave on the coast of North Africa.

A group of doctors is currently considering legal action against the Federation of Royal Colleges for an exam error.

But it's not the first time this has happened, and issues with medical exams have been the subject of four reviews carried out by John McLachlan, professor of medical education at the University of Lancashire.

Earlier this week, I sat down with John to talk about how exams go wrong, what happens to the people who've been marked wrongly, and if multiple-choice questions are even a good way of testing doctors at all.

I can only imagine how stressful it would be, I mean, from both sides, but to be told you've passed and perhaps progressed in your career to then being told you've failed.

The South Pole Wall, identified in two thousand and twenty by a team using infrared surveys that could partially see through the zone of avoidance, is a massive concentration of galaxy clusters stretching approximately one point four billion light-years, largely hidden behind our own galaxy.

The Giant Arc, announced in two thousand and twenty-one by Alexia Lopez at the University of Central Lancashire, is a curved structure approximately three point three billion light-years long, found in the distribution of quasars and distant absorbing gas clouds at a redshift of about zero point eight, roughly nine billion light-years away.

The Giant Arc is particularly interesting, not just for its size, but because its existence is difficult to explain under standard cosmological assumptions.

The principle that the universe should appear statistically uniform at scales above roughly one point two billion light-years, called the cosmological principle, predicts that structures larger than about one point two billion light-years should not exist.

Yeah.

And I think that's what I found when I was doing, when I started doing the MSC with UCLan, University of Central Lancashire, it was a bit of a shock [laughs] because when I did my homeopathy training, we were all enthusiastic and-

... you know, that enthusiasm went a long way.

i have the wonderful susan lucas joining me today so i'll just read a little of susan's bio before we set the scene of what we're going to be talking about today so dr susan lucas was until recently the principal lecturer and subject lead for philosophy at the university of lancashire her 30-year career as an academic philosopher focused particularly on the phenomenon of self-knowledge what is it how is it possible and what the implications of our capacity for self-knowledge are for our relationships with others.

So this work found expression in her book, published under the name of Peter Lucas, Ethics and Self-Respect for Self-Interpreting Agents, as well as in numerous academic articles.

Much of her work on the ethics of self-knowledge centered around the phenomenon of sexual objectification.
