Danny O'DwyerHOST
45:35
Like, like so many games, like d- Bubble Dizzy, like, you know, pick your game, classic game where you have to go up as high as you can, and you can fall back down at various intervals.
Danny O'DwyerHOST
45:45
Obviously, um, it's Getting Over It by Bennett Foddy, right? And then there was that game that came out a couple years ago that was, uh, there was G- G- Grow Home, the Ubisoft game, and then there was that game that came out a couple years ago that got in trouble for stealing assets, and then the guy took it down.
Danny O'DwyerHOST
46:01
What was that called again? [laughs] Do you remember that?
Jenna StoeberGUEST
46:02
Oh, Only Up? Was that it?
JohnPANELIST
1:35
Joe, do you need us to run that intervention again?
JoeHOST
1:39
my retro game uh like addiction magic problem yeah yeah that's uh i was i've been playing it a lot again uh really enjoy it really like a good retro game um but i've been seeing a lot of stuff and here's the thing i don't pay attention that much attention to the internet and the people on it because it's not a good place to talk to people about things because nothing's real and everything's angry um The company, Ubisoft, apparently released a remake of Heroes of Might and Magic 3, which I think is the most popular Heroes game that has ever been released.
JoeHOST
2:18
And people were really shitting on it because it really does look like it was built by AI.
JoeHOST
2:22
And that's the big reason people are like, oh, it's very soulless.
TimurhanHOST
38:29
That's right, everyone.
TimurhanHOST
38:30
We are reviewing the latest Assassin's Creed game from Ubisoft, specifically Ubisoft Singapore, released for PS5, Windows, and Xbox Series X and S on July 9th, 2026.
TimurhanHOST
38:44
Some might call this the perfect summer game, a pirate game set in the middle of the West Indies or the Caribbean.
TimurhanHOST
38:51
And Matt, this third-person action-adventure game is a remake of a beloved favorite from 2013, Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag, developed by Ubisoft Montreal in particular.
TimurhanHOST
39:03
Yeah.
TimurhanHOST
39:04
And what blows my freaking mind is it had really good reviews for the most part.
TimurhanHOST
40:34
Honestly, I was hyped, not just because it's a beloved favorite and people are super nostalgic for it, but Assassin's Creed overall is such a blind spot for me, ironically.
TimurhanHOST
40:43
I haven't played too many of them.
Dane CodyHOST
93:12
Yes.
Dane CodyHOST
93:15
And in Ubisoft, continuing their terrible year of...
Dane CodyHOST
93:21
I shouldn't say terrible year, because they did launch Too Great a Plum.
Dane CodyHOST
93:26
They did the Black Flight Resync, which has done very well for them.
YuriHOST
93:30
So I really, you know, I shouldn't talk too much shit.
YuriHOST
93:33
Launched their employees into the winter cold.
Dane CodyHOST
93:39
Ubisoft has delayed Rayman Legends Retold just weeks before planned release.
Dane CodyHOST
93:45
They have now pushed this to the end of the year.
Brian DunawayHOST
49:30
Now of course, Assassin's Creed, uh, Black Flag Resynced, uh, just hit.
Brian DunawayHOST
49:36
And also, did you hear that U- Ubisoft is phasing out the Uconnect requirement for Steam, for the games on Steam?
Scott JohnsonHOST
49:42
Yeah.
Scott JohnsonHOST
49:42
In fact-
Chris PlanteHOST
1:00
Yeah, I think you are 100% right, and I think we can dig right into it, because good but strange news to start off with.
Chris PlanteHOST
1:09
Ubisoft is testing a workaround for its Ubisoft Kinect PC launcher in Steam that, as far as I can tell, makes it so that you can keep all the features that I guess are good about Ubisoft Kinect, like cross-progression, cross-play, player safety, etc., Without having to actually launch Ubisoft Connect while using Steam, which means not having to have yet another launcher while you're trying to play a game on the platform that you actually prefer.
Chris PlanteHOST
1:42
Am I right that they have basically created a tool to solve the problem of a different tool existing?
Simon CarlessHOST
1:50
Yeah, it's to solve the problem of the tool that they made.
Simon CarlessHOST
2:02
Battle.net, I'd say, has done okay.
Simon CarlessHOST
2:04
And then the EA launcher, whatever it's called nowadays, it might be called the EA launcher, is also doing, I guess, okay.
Simon CarlessHOST
2:13
But really... it's very difficult if you don't have exclusives then it's difficult and what's happened in recent years is there was an attempt to keep um a lot of these pc games exclusive to launchers and it didn't really work because people just prefer to use steam and so everyone has drifted back towards steam again in terms of big game releases you know ubisoft was off of steam for a while and on epic game store for its big game releases and epic game store is a bit more i guess permissive about launchers uh or people are more people are more used to that um but yeah i mean i mean people are still trying to launch um launch launchers like uh certainly i think we did something on it but owlcat uh recently you know the rpg folks tried to do a launcher in the last couple of months and had to uh get rid of it within about 24 hours because people were so yeah But I think some of these publishers who don't have killer stuff that's off platforms discover that people come back towards Steam, and then players see the Ubisoft launcher as very intrusive and potentially unhelpful and complain about it a lot.
Simon CarlessHOST
3:16
So I think Ubisoft is finally agreeing that, unfortunately, they haven't got a massive market share with this launcher, so they're going to step it back a little bit.
Mark LongoHOST

And then, of course, let's keep scrolling.

Mark LongoHOST

Ubisoft Entertainment, ticker symbol UBSFF.
Mark LongoHOST
2:19
They're off nearly 10% just since their previous close.
Mark LongoHOST
2:22
And, of course, you go back to their 50-day moving average, and they are off even more.

10:23
By Ubisoft.
Chris O'ReganHOST
10:24
It's got a Ubisoft logo on it and everything.
Jim MiddletonHOST
10:26
That was the one...
Jim MiddletonHOST
10:27
Oh my goodness.
AnneHOST
26:42
AnneHOST
27:36
Euh, merci beaucoup, beaucoup, Guymeth.
