One thing that surprises many newcomers is that while Australia has many mobile companies, there are really only three major mobile networks.

These are Telstra, Optus and TPG Telecom, which also operates the Vodafone network.

These companies own and maintain the physical mobile infrastructure.

Thousands of mobile towers spread across one of the largest countries in the world.

If you spend nearly all your time in cities like Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide or Perth, you'll probably notice very little difference between the major networks.

However, if you regularly travel to regional towns, country communities or drive long distances across Australia, coverage becomes much more important.

Telstra generally offers the broadest regional coverage, while Optus and TPG Telecom provide excellent service across metropolitan areas and many regional centres.

Before choosing the cheapest plan available, think about where you'll actually be using your phone.

So I believe the result came broadly in line with expectations.

It's not comparable exactly.

But obviously, if we look at the numbers, one under Infrato has done an amazing job, whereas, say, Vodafone under TPG, they've had very different financial structure and performance.

Yeah, I don't know.

Like, I know the leaders of, like, I know Nyaki really well at TPG, and I think he's a super impressive leader, super smart guy.

And I know Vicky at Telstra, and I got a lot of time for her She's really customer obsessed.

I know that David Doty was before Andy Penn, and I know Andy's a really smart operator as well.

Uh, Telco.

In TPG Telecom, in fact, Oscar asking about this now, did publish its half year results late last week, showed, uh, continued, uh, mobile growth, stronger cash flow, and a higher dividend.

Uh, Ben, what, what did you make of it?

Yeah, it's a reasonable business, doing reasonably well.

Okay, no, you, you both have the same view then, um, essentially.

So YB and TPG Telecom particularly, I guess you wanna be in that space, then maybe go for one of those disruptors such as Aussie Broadband or Superloop.
