So yes, birds.

So I worked for the Institute for Bird Populations or IBP in 2024.

And we were doing point count surveys in the Colorado Plateau, essentially.

So for a whole spring, I had to learn about 160 plus different bird songs and calls to identify them on these point count surveys where we were using it to estimate population size and we did it with the migration patterns as well so we would get the birds as they were arriving for the spring and singing their songs the most so we could get the most accurate population count i could go into this a lot but we'll just leave it at that um but that's where i'd always loved birds you know i took ornithology in college but that was the job that really honed me in onto bird songs and things like that so Some of the coolest birds I saw or heard on trail was, we did have a long-eared owl on trail, first day in the Sierras, actually right above the trail in a tree with her two babies.
