The Browser Company (Arc)
The Browser Company of New York is a group of friendly humans working to build a better way to use the internet But how? The web browser is one of the most important tools we use — not just on our computers, but in our lives. The world has changed in the past 15 years, but our web browsers look and behave pretty much the same. We think it’s time to push the web browser forward again, which is why we built Arc and now Dia — browsers that aren't just faster, but also more personal, focused, creative… and maybe even more fun. If this is as exciting for you as it is for us, don't hesitate to say hello! We're always looking for great people to join our mission.www.arc.net

why I can't trust new browsers after arc.
J
14:06Joe CasabonaHOST
And the reason that I'm recommending this now is because yesterday the browser company announced that they are sun setting arc.
J
14:18Joe CasabonaHOST
So this is a 14 month old blog post.
J
14:21Joe CasabonaHOST
Um, but, uh, the browser company announced that they are sun setting arc and, uh, it's probably the most predictable thing ever, uh, because, uh, when, you know, they got acquired by Atlassian and you could, you could kind of just see the writing on the wall there, right? They're like, where, no, this is feature complete and we'll still do, uh, like chromium updates.
J
14:49Joe CasabonaHOST
And we promise.
J
14:51Joe CasabonaHOST

J

One of my new criterion for switching is how long has the company been around? Right.

ARK stopped being developed a couple of years ago.

The browser company, which is the company that made it, Josh Miller, the CEO, I think has been on both this show and on Decoder talking about this stuff recently.
D
84:27David PierceHOST
They did some of the most interesting work in browsers over the last several years, but they pivoted in a big way to AI.

They now make this browser called Dia.

It's the same as Josh had the whole time, which is your operating system is irrelevant on the desktop.
