Sydney Sixers

I've got no doubt that, you know, they would love as many Indian players, past, current, to come and be a part of the BBL.

I think like we're seeing with these domestic competitions now around the world, you have a team and some of your players, like if your favorite players are, you know, a Steve Smith, for example, then you might go for the Sydney Sixers.

You go for, I don't know who his team is at the, where he's playing now, the European League.

He goes and plays in the PSL or you just follow your players around or you follow your teams around.

Um, so yeah, I guess that's a, a shrewd move by, by Queensland and, um, it's been a fascinating off-season, uh, the merry-go-round with the, with the coaches.

Uh, James Hopes coming into that Queensland role, uh, 'cause he actually started as the Sydney Sixers BBL coach and then obviously, um, it all went down with, with Johan Botha le- leaving, uh, Queensland and that, uh, job opened up.

So, um, yeah, they would've been crazy not to get one of their favorite sons back, uh, in charge of the Bulls.

So a bit of a merry-go-round there.

So Cricket Australia is the governing body for cricket here in Australia.

They run everything from the Big Bash League to the national cricket teams.

And Juzzy Boy, since the Big Bash League launched in 2011, the state associations have owned their local teams.

So that means Cricket Victoria owns the Melbourne Renegades.

WA Cricket owns the Perth Scorchers, the 2026 champs.

And Cricket New South Wales owns two teams, the Sydney Sixers and Sydney Thunder.

But now Cricket Australia has given those state associations the green light to sell major stakes in their Big Bash teams to private investors.

Or as they call it, self-determination.

I mean, even Elise Perry in that press conference, did you see her face? I was watching it closely.

She must have been so conflicted because she's representing the Sydney Sixers who are so far against privatisation, yet... she was ordered to attend the press conference, which she did.

I would have loved to have known her inner thoughts, what she was really thinking.

And then of course, Gerard, you've got the players who were saying, we should actually be taking 27% of the sale.

Strikers.

Sydney Sixers.

Yeah.

Now, look, I've floated this idea and I think it's an excellent idea.

I don't mean to be putting out to the women, but, you know, in, in the instance we're talking about, we're talking about the men's competition.

Sydney Sixers have thrived on having New South Wales players and being able to bring some other guys back.

You know, Jackson Bird's come back for a couple of years.

Um, Jordan Silk has always played for the Sixers.

Does anyone think he's a massively big name? But how successful has he been as a player in the Big Bash for the Sydney Sixers? And what's their big name? Steve Smith.

When he's available, he comes back and scores a century every second time he bats.

So it's not about getting international players into the Big Bash.
