We got involved with the Sustainable Food Trust and the Harmony Project and we're now a beacon farm with them.

So that is really about educating people of all ages.

We've worked to develop bespoke programmes, connecting the kids back to nature, back to sort of knowing where your food comes from and that link with the animal's health, the planet's health and then their health as well.

So this issue was highlighted in a survey of more than 850 farmers and land managers.

And this was conducted by the Sustainable Food Trust, Soil Association and Rare Breed Survival Trusts.

Now, nearly two thirds of respondents reported difficulties accessing suitable abattoir services.

And one third had already seen an abattoir they use close.

A new coalition of more than 150 organisations has sent a letter to the Prime Minister calling for urgent government action.

The Sustainable Food Trust, Soil Association and Rare Breed Survival Trust and other groups claim the UK's abattoir network has fallen to around 200 from roughly 2,500 in the 1970s.

The government says it's working closely with the sector to help relieve some of the financial and regulatory pressures small businesses face.

One initiative to bring abattoir services to the remote farms of Orkney is being put in place later this month.

And that's often the case in our industry is high investment for rapid slaughter and great deal of efficiency.

But there's this sort of payoff between the cost of the infrastructure and the cost per unit.

The campaign by the Sustainable Food Trust says abattoir services should be considered as critical infrastructure.

So how important are they in smaller communities like the one you're taking this to in Orkney?
