Sudbury Valley School

You know, you see kids over a range of age.

I've studied age mixed play at a radically alternative school, the Sudbury Valley School that doesn't segregate children by age.

There are children there from age four on through 18, even 19 years old in some cases.

And they play together across ages.

So we needed to find some kind of an alternative.

And that's when we found this remarkable alternative school called the Sudbury Valley School.

which was only two miles from our house, which at that time for a nine, by the time he started, he was 10 years old.

For a 10-year-old, that was an easy walk or a very easy bicycle ride at that time.

And he became very happy again once he started at that school.

And so what does he do today?

He's actually a staff member at the Sudbury Valley School, the school he went to.

And she had written in the book, Jerry, This Will Make Your Heart Sing.

And it was the book entitled Free at Last about the Sudbury Valley School.

So Jerry and Esther were on their way to Atlanta and they read the book as they drove and fell in love with it.

Esther was crying.
