Stonehill College

I started my career at Horizon Media as an assistant video investor.

I graduated with my bachelor's degree at Stonehill College in 2021 and communications with a minor in sports, commerce, and culture.

In college and really high school, I always knew that I wanted to be in sports, but I didn't know how.

I think I was just looking at random paths that I knew within my college background I didn't have.

And I'm an old-fashioned, I worked on probably 25 campaigns.

I'm from Boston originally, and, uh, I went to Catholic Hill High School, Stonehill College, and I'm one of nine kids, and we have a lot of family in the community, and I've met thousands of people that know my family.

And I, I think, as a grassroots candidate, I graduated cum laude from law school, so I think I have the academic prowess.

So it, it's really simple.

Well, CHN reported that Atlantic Hockey is not considering any expansion at this time.

But should they? It seems weird to me that Long Island and Stonehill at least are not in that league.

Yeah, I saw that.

So there, it's in...

Now, I think the issue at the time, this was a couple years ago, the issue at that point, and the issue that still exists now [laughs] is you have teams in Atlantic Hockey that are going, especially, there's a lot in New York, Army, Niagara, Canisius, RIT.

Like, "Do we really want to invite that into our league? Like, that's just, that's way more competition for us competitively and in recruiting to try to go get players." Uh, so I, again, the schools are out to protect themselves, and, and that I can appreciate and I understand However, uh, I, I do think at some point f- for those independent programs to be sustainable, they're gonna need to get themselves into a league.

And I'm looking at, you know, for Atlanta hockey, the ones that make the most sense are Stonehill and Long Island.

They're right there.

Um, but yeah, where I come from, I actually did not grow up fishing, believe it or not.

I'm from northern Rhode Island, um, and went and got my undergraduate degree at Stonehill College, did environmental science.

So kinda broad, wasn't sure exactly what I wanted to get into.

Um, but when I took my first marine ecology class junior year of college, um, I kinda just fell in love with it, um, specifically the ecol- ecological side of it, the connections between different organisms.

And then Mercyhurst, I also believe, was year number three.

Yeah, and then Stonehill's year four.

Year four.

I can't remember.

But, you know...

Look at Stonehill.

In 2023, they were 10-6 in the NEC in year one, but 2-14 in their second year.

Uh, who else caught your eye from the, uh, eastern part of the country? Tom, we'll start with you.

Anybody else catch your eye that you thought, "Hey, they should get a little, uh, a little love eye." I thought Stonehill playing Providence to a tie, even though it was an exhibition, um, maybe gave us a little look at what Stonehill's gonna be like.

Um, as far as, you know, other, you know, other Eastern, you know, uh...

I guess, uh...

I mean, you know, Maryville, I mean, what, what, what else can you say a- about them other than, you know, coming right out with that program opening win? I mean- When else have we seen that? I mean, I, Arizona State certainly didn't do that.

I don't think, I don't think Lindenwood did that.

I mean, Stonehill didn't do that.

I don't think Long Island did.
