Softdisk

So Sandy aside, this is the last we're going to talk about Sandy Peterson.

So what became its software grew out of a Shreveport, Louisiana-based software company called Softdisk, where Romero, John Carmack, and the rest of the team created games that bundled with the magazine Gamer's Edge.

They were making a bunch of these shareware games together.

And eventually, the team started making their own games on the side, surreptitiously borrowing the softest equipment to do it, incidentally.

I mean, we could probably do that too.

I'm sure that'd be fun.

This eventually came to a head and eventually led to the team, you know, John Carmack, John Romero, and the rest parting ways with Softdisk and surprisingly did not get sued in the process.

Ultimately, they basically just had a promise where they committed to a number of different games they had to make for Softdisk and they just had to make those games eventually.
