And another component where I was able to, like, obtain community was through SHPE.

I know you always, like, hear me talk about [laughs] SHPE, the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers.

Um, I got involved in my second year as a transfer student as technical chair, and then I was able to transition into a co-president role, which has been absolutely great, amazing.

It has enhanced my experience at UC San Diego tremendously, you know, because I go from being in an environment where I don't feel that I belong to being in a space where my fellow Hispanic engineers look up to me and they tell me like, "Wow, like, it's so nice that I was able to see your growth and your passion, and now you're gonna, like, graduate and have a full-time job and do a master's.

We don't forget about what interests the students, right? Or what interests the candidate, if you will.

And their interests are vast, right? So from the diversity perspective, you want to make sure you're getting in touch with chapters like NSBE, the National Society of Black Engineers, SHIP, the Society of Professional Engineers from the Hispanic perspective, right? And there are other groups out there also that are represented.

You also want to make sure that the A-C-E-C, the A-S-C-E's, the I-T-E's.

I'm saying a lot of acronyms.
