It's not back to the land or back to the old tools, but it's actually a blend.

So he says, "What we need now is a selective technology tailored to fit our needs, a blend of the best of ancient and modern," which might perhaps surprise a reader, you know, going through and like, "Modern? Now there's something modern you appreciate?" But I think that he's trying to highlight this isn't simply about, you know, LARPing or s- like trying to pretend you're of the 1800s or doing, you know, SCA, Society of Creative Anachronism stuff.

Mm-hmm.

He's actually saying, "No, what I'm interested in is wisdom.

[laughs] So you told me about a, an organization that I had to look up later.

It's the Society for Creative Anachronism.

Mm-hmm.

And it's kind of like cosplay and a ren fair and these kind of things all, um, a- all mixed up together.

So in my research, and I, I do try to research for every interview, I gotta say, I did, uh, way less research on The Machinery of Freedom 'cause I'd read the book-

... be it 10 years ago, and I did a lot more research [laughs] on the Society for Creative Anachronism just because this rabbit hole is very interesting.

Uh-huh.

And I just love playing music.

I got to go to, recently I started going with my wife to the Penzik War, which is a two-week outdoor event held by the Society for Creative Anachronism,

which

are basically people who do medieval recreation.
