Many of the great and good of the industry also went along to hear speeches and discussions, not just from Ørsted chief executive Rasmus Erbo, but also senior representatives of the many companies and organizations involved in the successful delivery of the 83 turbine scheme.

That included Siemens Gamesa and, of course, Tenet for the grid connections.

As you can imagine, everybody seemed very proud of the wind farm, which could supply enough power for up to one million German households.

It brings the developers offshore install capacity in Germany to two and a half gigawatts.

If I was the French government selling EPRs into the UK, I'd be saying that of the UK.

If I was the Spanish government selling wind energy on from the Siemens Gamesa deal to the UK, I'd be saying that as well.

And if I was the German government selling Siemens gas turbines to the UK, I'd be saying that as well.

I mean, there's a bit of naivety that has crept in.

At least they had, at least they haven't eliminated the possibility of it.

Is this really just a ploy to push down prices from Vestas and Siemens Gamesa?

I mean, if it is, it's, it wouldn't be anything new, right? It's something that a lot of operators or a lot of, yeah, a lot of owner operators, whether they're Danish or not, have, have s- seen if they can maybe get a lower price.

But, um, if they have a fairly homogenous fleet in a country, um, then they might get a, a site from a different OEM to, to just prove to themselves and to their OEM of choice that they're not the only ones out there, right? Um, and so this could be something that's happening.

Uh, but, uh, Claire is not the only new face there.

Christy Hopkins, who spent more than 26 years at Siemens Energy and Siemens Gamesa, has joined as executive director for Wind North America and New Units, leading sales across US, Canada, and Mexico.

And then Gio Scialdone, who has been on the podcast many times with 3S Left, is leaving 3S Left.

I'm-- That's a big hit, I'm sure.

Uh, but behind those numbers, there's another story that is unfolding, which is Nordex, the German turbine maker, is closing in on Vestas, the Danish wind tub- turbine maker, in the onshore market.

Uh, in August, Nordex booked more than twice the megawatts that Vestas did.

Uh, a Danske Bank analyst says Nordex has been quicker on its feet, picking up market share that left behind b- by Siemens Gamesa and GE Vernova.

Uh, although Vestas is still way out in front in, in terms of total gigawatts that they're gonna produce.

It doesn't exist yet, but its blades are being built right now.

Over in Hull, England, seems Gamesa just started making blades for Orsted's Horn C3 offshore wind farm.

That's 2.9 gigawatts, 197 turbines.

Each blade is longer than a football pitch.

It's safer, faster, and it's going to be a lot smarter.

One more story before we finish today.

Siemens Gamesa has now installed more than 300 recyclable blades in six countries.
