you may remember a few years ago uh the queen charlotte bridgerton story spin-off show which did very well it was a one one-off limited series okay and uh you know was right rode very high in the in the charts as all bridgerton products do for netflix they do uh they have announced they have greenlit uh as as yet untitled spin-off but it will chronicle the early life of uh young lady violet that's the mother to all these bridgeton kids who keep getting um married off each season uh yeah played by ruth gemmel in the uh bridgeton show uh obviously presumably they will find someone else to play the young version of her And this will be, interestingly, obviously this comes from the Shondaland production company.

This will be the first show which Shonda Rhimes herself will partake in writing duties on since

the aforementioned Queen Charlotte spin-off.

She's

got a lot of swimming pools.

Their house would, I wonder if it's called Shondaland.

Yeah.

The other thing that comes with that, and they also, by the way, can't do any casting officially until then.

I mean, they could have conversations with returning actors and be like hey if we did this thing would you be game for coming back I would not be surprised if that those types of conversations have happened but they can't do anything official they can't put any contracts or whatever until things have been greenlit they were also waiting for and this was a really big piece of news back in August Shondaland announced that they had signed another five-year extension of their contract with Netflix so this partnership is really important obviously it's one that's really important to Netflix and to Shondaland both Netflix built them the studio at Shepperton to make Bridgerton and to make other shows.

They want this partnership to continue.

So that, and I remember speculating when that news came out, I was like, oh, is this the thing that we've been waiting for to get a spinoff announcement? Turns out it was because they have now announced the spinoff.

So I love this is the first project that's been greenlit since that announcement happened.

And so Netflix is really doubling down and saying like, hey, we believe in the Bridgerton brand.

We want to continue not only this partnership with Shondaland, but we want to keep making Bridgerton content.

Great news for us getting a seven and eight seasons of Bridgerton.

No word yet on the release date for the spinoff, but filming for Season 5 of Bridgerton is currently underway.

All that has been announced is that if you're a Bridgerton fan, you may be a little bit excited because we are getting a spinoff series from, uh, Bridgerton producers, um, and Shondaland.

Series doesn't have a name yet, and is being referred to right now as the Untitled Bridgerton Project.
