BradHOST
49:04
We talked a few months ago about NetEase, who was the primary funder of Negoshi Studio, pulled their funding.
BradHOST
49:12
Negoshi Studio was made of former RGG folks that were making what effectively looks like an RGG game in Gang of Dragon, which had, what's that dude's name, Micah? You know his name.
BradHOST
49:26
That one actor?
MicahHOST
49:28
Oh, that big dude.
Kurt IndovinaGUEST
42:32
They all suck.
Kurt IndovinaGUEST
42:34
But as an RGG fan, a fan of this dude's work, the Yakuza series, the things he did, it's like there was something funny about when that game was revealed.
Kurt IndovinaGUEST
42:42
I was like, oh, so he is just doing his own unadulterated Yakuza game again.
Tim GettysHOST
42:49
Like, fuck yes,
Kurt IndovinaGUEST
43:02
It's like- No, I get it, man.
Kurt IndovinaGUEST
43:03
Yeah.
Kurt IndovinaGUEST
43:04
It's one of those things like from business perspective, I'm not a businessman with lots of money to give money, like give these game developers studios, but I can imagine a sort of a tough sell where it's like, okay, so you're the dude who basically created the Yakuza series, the Like a Dragon series, right? You split up from RGG because you want to do your own thing.
Kurt IndovinaGUEST
43:19
So you want to deliver another one of those kinds of games in your style.
Jeff GrubbHOST
8:16
I would like to see, uh, kind of negotiate, come out there and say what, what the plan is for the future.
Jeff GrubbHOST
8:22
And, um, you know, maybe there's a chance you could return to RGG.
Jeff GrubbHOST
8:25
Maybe not, probably not, but maybe, uh, you know, obviously maybe that becomes more likely, uh, if these upcoming RGG games come out and they, the follow through is, is, is as tainted as the lead up to them has been.
Jeff GrubbHOST
8:40
Um, you know, we talk about, uh, Tupac in project century, which I can never remember the name of God.
Jeff GrubbHOST
8:45
What is the name of that game? Um,
Rich DavisonHOST
28:31
It can't take it.
Brian EdwardsHOST
28:32
RGG for me.
Brian EdwardsHOST
28:34
Oh, yes.
Brian EdwardsHOST
28:36
That would be...
BrianHOST
3:12
Let's get it.
BrianHOST
3:14
Yakuza Dead Souls was released in the year 2011. was developed by rgg studio and published by sega just like all the other yakuza games but this one kind of went through a tumultuous development uh for a number of reasons um this studio you know where we're at now with rgg they pump out yearly yakuza titles and you usually get two in a year because they're known for reusing assets they crunch a lot it's just kind of like japanese game development culture uh this is not where the yakuza series was back then it still was kind of in its niche i think it just started getting a little more popular in the states but they were still trying to like work on making it as popular as it is in japan here in the states so they said let's add zombies like it's kind of a weird thing we gotta think about where we're you're telling 11 walking dead was like all-time high and you know we went through the vampire craze in 2000s and i feel like zombies were very much like the 2010s
BarryHOST
4:11
Zombies lasted too long, and we need to get back to vampires.
BrianHOST
4:14
Yes, dude.
CameronHOST
12:07
Yeah.
CameronHOST
12:07
Which will be interesting next year, too, with Stranger Than Heaven, whether that's a good jumping-on point for you to experience an RGG game, like you've played The Man Who Erased His Name, which is a good bite-sized experience.
MattHOST
12:22
Also ended up on our Game of the Year list for that, yeah.
CameronHOST
12:24
Yeah.
Lucy JamesHOST
80:33
So I am actually really getting on board with the combat.
Lucy JamesHOST
80:37
The summer game first build...
Lucy JamesHOST
80:38
So Stranger Than Heaven, for those who don't know, it is the new game from RGG Studios who make the Like A Dragon Yakuza games.
Lucy JamesHOST
80:45
And so whereas those games are typically brawlers and then they moved into turn-based for Like A Dragon, this... is an action game where each half of the body of the character is controlled on a different side of the controller so right bumper and right trigger control uh you know light punching and what and kicking whatever on the right side and similarly on the left side two uh lb and rb together is like a That's the grab.
Lucy JamesHOST
81:14
And there's kind of ways that if you deflect.

9 MINS LATER

Lucy JamesHOST
90:28
Wow.
Lucy JamesHOST
90:29
And I'm really interested to see how it all comes together.
Lucy JamesHOST
90:32
Like, I am a big fan of RGG Studios and their work.
Jake BaldinoHOST
84:23
explained the combat last time okay but like having spent more time with it how are you feeling now
Lucy JamesHOST
84:29
So I am actually really getting on board with the combat.
Lucy JamesHOST
84:33

CognitoGUEST
22:32
Yakuza like a dragon, especially, you know what I'm saying? I got, I got, I got love for Kiryu and those guys.
CognitoGUEST
22:37
RGG salute.
Brad EllisHOST
22:41
Starfield or Marvel versus Capcom.
Brad EllisHOST
22:49
Oh, I didn't.
FightinCowboyHOST
22:47
There's so many fucking games coming out in February.
Wheelie AverageHOST
22:49
Yeah.
Wheelie AverageHOST
22:50
And then in January, of course, we have Stranger Than Heaven, which is the new RGG Studios game, the studio behind the Yakuza franchise.
Wheelie AverageHOST
23:00
And I got to play three hours of it recently.
Wheelie AverageHOST
23:03
And let me tell you, it's very, very interesting because I've never seen a combat system quite like this.
