Rochefort Brewery

La cultura birraria belga è stata riconosciuta nel 2016 dall'UNESCO come patrimonio culturale immateriale dell'umanità.

Sei produttori trappisti belgi, tra cui Orval, Chimay, Westmalle, Westvleteren, Rochefort e Achel, sfornano birre di grande complessità con gradazioni che nelle versioni tripel e quadrupel arrivano a otto/undici gradi alcolici.

Le lambic hanno una storia diversa: nascono da una fermentazione spontanea affidata ai lieviti selvatici e ai batteri lattici presenti nell'area della valle della Senna e del Pajottenland, e maturano per mesi o anni in botti di rovere.

La gueuze è una miscela di lambic giovani e vecchie.

This is one of my absolute favorite beer places in the world.

They had a special beer on tap, which was the Triple Extra from Rochefort, which is one of the great Trappist beer brands from Belgium.

They brought this beer back in 2020, 100 years after it was last brewed.

I've had it in a bottle a couple of times and really enjoyed it, but this was my first time trying the draft version.
