And after a long corporate career, went on to build a- her own successful business, Unlimit You, helping working parents navigate family, ambition, and everything in between.
Leonie AkhidenorHOST
1:40
Poppy is a high-performance neuroscience coach and an R U OK community ambassador, and drawing on both life experience, uh, after losing her brother, Will, to suicide in 2010, and her own expertise in human behavior, you know, she's out, out there supporting a, a lot of, a lot of us.
Leonie AkhidenorHOST
1:58
So firstly, you know, I commend you for the work that you do.
Leonie AkhidenorHOST
2:01
It's, um, yeah, so needed, so thank you.
Poppy GriffithsGUEST
3:13
Um, so Unlimit You re- really came about from wanting to, I guess, help people, um, certainly help teams with my business experience, to be able to show up well, but really to be able to access those human skills so they can think well, they can bounce back well when they've had setbacks, you know, navigate all those pressures and demands, and importantly, be doing that with mental fitness, um, at its core.
Poppy GriffithsGUEST
3:36
And, and like you said at the outset, we, my family tragically did lose, um, my brother, Will, uh, to suicide in 2010, and really off the back of that, as many people do that have faced tragedy, you're often asking, you know, "What could I do differently? What did we miss?" And, um, I think my passion for helping others improve their mental health, be more aware of good mental health, being equipped with the skills to keep building good mental health and our mental fitness, really came about from, obviously, our family's, uh, experience as well.
Poppy GriffithsGUEST
4:11
So there is no doubt that my work with R U OK! and, um, I love it, I'm very passionate about it, it came about from tragedy.
Poppy GriffithsGUEST
4:19
Um, and I would say Unlimit You, what I do as a professional job t- day-to-day, is very linked in some ways, too, to, I guess, our experiences and all of the champion messages that we promote at R U OK.

For listeners concerned about someone who appears to be struggling but keeps saying they're fine, what advice would you leave with them?
Jack KennedyGUEST
20:26
Do it from both sides, I suppose, is if you think that someone's struggling, uh, it's really important to reach out and check in on how they're going and listen to what, what's going on with absolutely no judgment and probably no advice for a start.
