John FoskettGUEST
10:07
I'm going to go out and say that it's an amazing service, but raise awareness all year round in your own circle like there's a saying in the rooms right it's that recovery starts at home don't just do it for a picture for Instagram to donate a tenner and to have a t-shirt like the next time you're rushing away, if a friend asks you out to meet for a cup of tea but you're too busy, that's where you make the difference.

The email is lunchtimelive at newstalk.com. Just to say as well, the Samaritans helpline number is 116123, the Pieta House 24-hour crisis helpline number 1800 247 247.

And there is some really good effective help out there.
Donal ScanlonGUEST
37:12
So the Samaritans, 116123, Pieta House, the HSE's text about it number, 50808, your GP, employee assistance programs, family members, friends, support groups.
Donal ScanlonGUEST
37:26
There's always somebody that can help.
Donal ScanlonGUEST
37:28
And it's just about helping a person stay safe in that moment and then navigating them to the right kind of professional help that's available.
Caroline LynchGUEST
8:56
I know in situations, people have been in denial for a long, long time.
Caroline LynchGUEST
9:01
I suppose family members try and get information how we can help and get the person to admit they have a problem and that's usually the hardest thing because I know trying to get the person to help themselves if they don't want to help themselves it's a bit of a battle but there are services out there you know what I mean there's the drugs.ie national support line Pieta House and even IFA have member support services there contact and get advice it's not easy.
Caroline LynchGUEST
9:30
It's not easy, but you have to be the person brave enough to say to the person, you know what I mean, there's a problem here and we need to get your help.
Caroline LynchGUEST
9:40
Yeah.
Nigel GillHOST

PatGUEST
7:35
And the hope is that you do reach out to somebody and, you know, get the help that you need at the time and try and, you know, get your life back in order the best you can.
PatGUEST
7:48
It never will be that it was before but you know there is you know there is mechanisms and ways of living with it you know it's still there it's always there and will always be there but um you just learn to cope basically and get going and go ahead again the best you can you know yeah
Nigel GillHOST
8:12
pat you've been sharing with us about how Pieta House was there, how you needed medical intervention, how it was that then Living Links came on board.
Nigel GillHOST
8:23
The question I would like to ask is this, in the light of the situation that has taken place, what was the role of family like to yourself and the three boys?
Brenda DennehyHOST
0:54
It is an incredibly raw, honest, and emotional conversation about reaching rock bottom, finding your way back, and why asking for help can save a life.
Brenda DennehyHOST

TonyHOST
29:31
and you can't see for the wood for the trees it's an old saying and Tyson Fury I was listening to him talking about depression and you know his attempt on his life and all that but I just thought it came out with, it really resonated with me.
