PetSmart Charities

At PetSmart Charities, we recognize the uniting power of unconditional love. That’s why we’re dedicated to helping people understand the critical role pets play—not just in families, but also in our communities. Our vision is a world where communities unite in support of pets together with their families. Our mission is to make the world a better place for pets by investing in community partners that advocate and care for the well-being of pets and all who love them. We are united as a pack because we believe that to create long-lasting impact in our local communities, we all have our parts to play. Change starts with each one of us, but happens together. If our vision and mission align with yours, we invite you to join us in leading the change for good. PetSmart Charities, Inc. is committed to making the world a better place for pets and all who love them. Through its in-store adoption program in all PetSmart® stores across the U.S. and Puerto Rico, PetSmart Charities helps nearly 400,000 pets connect with loving families each year. PetSmart Charities also provides grant funding to support organizations that advocate and care for the well-being of all pets and their families. Our grants and efforts connect pets with loving homes through adoption, improve access to affordable veterinary care and support families in times of crisis with access to food, shelter and emergency relief. Each year, millions of generous supporters help pets in need by donating to PetSmart Charities directly at PetSmartCharities.org, while shopping at PetSmart.com, and by using the PIN pads at checkout registers inside PetSmart stores. In turn, PetSmart Charities efficiently uses more than 90 cents of every dollar donated to fulfill its role as the leading funder of animal welfare in North America, granting more than $475 million since its inception in 1994. I see this every day, 'cause I'm seeing patients on our platform too, people that when I say, "Oh, it would be great if you could go in person so that I could check the tympanic membrane and make sure that the eardrum's intact," and they just say, "Doc, I live two hours from a veterinary clinic," or, "I work when my vet clinic is open, so I wouldn't be able to go in for two weeks." And you realize that, you know, vets are like, "I really feel like I am helping people." I try to check in with vets, you know, within their first couple weeks of being on the platform to get their initial impressions, and they say, "I feel like I'm really helping people." That PetSmart Charities report that says that 52% of pets are getting no care because of cost or access, and I feel like we are reaching that 52% of pets because they can access our platform.

And I, I hear that from our vets when they come to telemedicine for the flexibility, but they stay because our EMR makes it easy and because they feel like they're really helping people.
