So why should football and other potentially dangerous sports like boxing, ice hockey, mixed martial arts, rugby be excluded? And, you know, this position was taken in 1957, 11 years before I was born, by the American Academy of Pediatrics.

And they published a paper in the Pennsylvania Medical Society Journal in 1957 that no child under the age of 12 should play football, boxing, or wrestling, that these games damaged the developmental potential of a child.

And the same American Academy of Pediatrics in 2011 published another paper encouraging doctors to advise parents and their children to move away from the contact sports whereby blows to the head are inherent to the play.

And every parent out there needs to know all it takes to damage your child's brain could be just one season of football.

But yet, parents continue to believe that if I buy the most expensive helmet for my child that is going to protect my child.

That is not true.

Dr. Amalo, last year you were interviewed by a friend of mine, Dr. Michael Della Vecchia from the Pennsylvania Medical Society.

During that published Pennsylvania Medical Society bulletin, something was in there that to me just doesn't make any sense.
