And it's, You don't have to be a fundraiser.

We weren't like Pelotonia.

Pelotonia is wonderful, but when they started in 2007, it was a fundraising event.

We couldn't do that in year 31 and say, okay, you got to donate or you can't do it.

We would have been, you know, I had about 10 people

there.

So by having that partnership, it then raised the level to the community where now it's like a Red, White & Boom or Arts Festival or Pelotonia, a community event.

that happens to have this running and walking element.

who are getting a liquid biopsy test.

So we're really excited that, you know, we believe that some of the foundational work we did in the lab that was, you know, here at Ohio State, supported by Pelotonia and other grants, has contributed to what is now sort of standard of care.

So I think I understand that the advantage of a liquid biopsy is it's less invasive to the patient than taking an actual biopsy of their tumors.

Yes, exactly.

Wow.

Um, and that's what she was all about, was helping people with a smile on her face, with a determination to say, "Hey, I can make life better for people in my local community and elsewhere." And I really looked at the impact she made and the boots that she left and said, "How can I make up even half that difference?" So I got involved a lot in cancer research and advocacy, you know, from working with Stewart's Caring Place here locally in the Copley-Fairlawn area to the Falls Cancer Club, doing bike rides down in Columbus, including Pelotonia, and other fundraising metrics.

In fact, this weekend, um, my dad and a couple of guys in his bands throughout the years are putting together a, a fundraiser, A Little Help from Our Friends to Beat Cancer.
