PC World

first, Pete? Yeah, so it's almost a bit like a fairy tale, like once upon a time sort of scenario.

But in honesty, I remember I was working in PC world, selling computers, and I was selling computers to... business people and I thought I really don't want to be in retail I want to be in an office you know selling something or doing something like that opposed to selling insurance that never works from PC World and I went into the local Sainsbury's and back in the day it's a long time now they used to have these like little magazines local magazines that would say what vacancies there are and stuff yeah and I saw there was a based in Sutton, in Surrey, and they were looking for junior recruitment consultants.

I kind of knew about that because Blue Arrow and that had various shops in Harrow and in and around West London where I lived.

And I remember I literally picked up the phone at the time, home phone, didn't have a mobile Landline.

And he says, you know, you can make two, three grand in a month, which if you think about when that was in 2000, I was, you know, my mind was blown.

So the first job engineering um when i say engineering they did like welders with tig welders electronics not really construction as we knew it yeah um went for the interview green as anything yeah with the director then and once again same suit again shirt re-ironed yeah she's polished and um i got the job in the day um i think they just saw i was quite green and yeah that's what kind of but it was just literally by sliding doors.

I was going for lunch that day, because I was working in PC World in Wandsworth.

So I went across, it's the Sainsbury's, across a very big nose at a part of Southwest London, and I just picked up a

I was asking Orla, checking in with her, and she ended up sending me a video to their wedding.

And it's a pretty unusual wedding in that it took place in a department store in a place called PC World and Kerry's.

And which are like a big computer shop and a big, I don't know, home electrical kind of place.

And back in maybe 2010, I think it was when they got married, there was a competition where they chose a couple.

and invited them to get married inside the store and we're talking about a full wedding here so there was cake there was champagne and all the guests were invited they decorated the place uh they had a comedian who was a priest and they got married but as a little bonus they got 15 000 euros worth of stuff from both pc world and curry's so That is like an extraordinary story that maybe, maybe, just maybe one day Orla or Paul might get up and share with us on stage at the Dublin Story Slam.

But for now, we're very grateful that they shared that wonderful coming together story about a big hero.

And that, of course, is Batman himself.
