Yolanda SandersGUEST
9:42
I don't like the cold, so I was like, [laughs] "I don't know if I'm gonna survive where it snows." So I started thinking about it.

StevenHOST

Externally, they're not gonna look like harassed and helpless sheep, right? They're not gonna look like a ripe and unplucked harvest.

They become the answer to his own prayer.
StevenHOST
21:29
"Pray," Jesus says, "and then become the answer to your prayer request." What is the vision? Let's, let's end here.
StevenHOST
21:39
What is the vision of our future here? What if we were to be laborers among the communities of Pasadena? What if we were to pray for laborers in every neighborhood in Pasadena? What if we could be the light, as John said, the light of Jesus in these neighborhoods? Could we use this building, this gift from God, to be the center of a mighty labor for the kingdom, to invite people to experience newness here, to, to be taught and preached the gospel of compassion, to shine like a light at Easter here, throughout the year? Can we reach the lives of international students at Caltech? Can we bring the grace of Jesus to Pasadena City College? Can we grow our community groups so that homes are being opened, hospitality shared, that most concrete of loves that our community can express? Can we raise up leaders here, men and women who will go forth as laborers, some simply with their families and jobs and neighborhoods, others perhaps called out to be church planters, missionaries to the ends of the earth? Will you pray this with me for laborers in the kingdom here in Pasadena? That's what Jesus commands us to do, I think.
StevenHOST
23:00
He would look at this harvest in our city.

We witness the half-time performance as the Pasadena Junior College band and the Southern California bands are out on the field.

The band moved into a New Year's candle with the number of 1939, while the traditional New Year's formation band will play America the Beautiful.
Bud ErnstSOUNDBITE_SPEAKER

They formed a huge smoke gets in your eyes, and then the pipe that they dragged out on the field here had tremendous rings come out of it.
Bud ErnstSOUNDBITE_SPEAKER
65:06
And now the Pasadena Junior College band is going through the formations that we expected, and they're spelling out the name Duke.
Bud ErnstSOUNDBITE_SPEAKER
65:12
And you'd be amazed with the rapidity while on their run, they run into a formation, and listen to the hand that Duke gets in the formation of their letters.
