Seminal gay and lesbian books, movies, record labels, and small presses emerge.

For the lesbian community, there's Olivia Records, Amazon Quarterly, and Nyad Press in the US.

The Circle in New Zealand, Press Gang in British Columbia, Canada, landmark lesbian literature, including Jill Johnston's Lesbian Nation, Rita Mae Brown's Ruby Fruit Jungle, Audre Lorde's From a Land Where Other People Live, and Monique Witting's Le Corps Lesbien are all published in 1973.

But from within the gay and women's liberation movements, the lavender tide, lesbian feminism is simultaneously flourishing and fracturing.

They also published a newspaper that became a widely circulated influential reaching lesbians around the country.
