In regard to the geothermal project, just for some background on some folks that might not be familiar with it, the City of Troy received a pilot program that's a collaboration between National Grid, the City of Troy, and the Troy LDC.

This has been primarily funded by a NYSERDA grant.

What the grant was for was to see what a shared utility would look like.

So the municipality working with the utility provider, that would be National Grid in our case here, and seeing how that partnership could actually work in providing the geothermal utility.

New York State requires an eight-hour class.

And the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority does offer a guidebook for local governments about best safety.

New York Governor Kathy Hochul signed a law in 2023 to establish what's called the Interagency Fire Safety Working Group.

Still, advocates are concerned about fire risk.

NY awards 8 storage, 13 renewable energy contracts.

The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority announced the state has contracted new storage and renewable energy projects with a combined capacity of 1.7 gigawatts.

Commentary.

Independence is a lousy principle of governance for ISOs.

So yeah, I worked in the private sector for a number of years before coming to government in 2010.

I led our renewables team here at NYSERDA for about 10 years and became the president of NYSERDA in 2020.

So it's been a really great opportunity to really take my predisposition toward technology and solutions finding and apply it to benefit New Yorkers across a full suite of resources that we're advancing on behalf of the governor, certainly, and with the energy agency that is NYSERDA.

In a previous iteration of New York's energy plans, offshore wind was a big factor a big contributor and i believe you had a lot to do with that program within nysera is there a relationship between the current uh attitude towards offshore wind and new york's interest in nuclear power

Well, it is certainly true that we have a lot of energy needs really across our state.

Yeah.

Yeah, it is true.

And it also is true that one of the major findings, one of NYSERDA's jobs is the state, as the state's energy office and the planner on behalf of the state through our state energy plan that I chair the Energy Planning Board, is that much like many other jurisdictions, we will be expecting electric load growth over that planning horizon on the order of 15 to 20% increase in our electric demand in the next 15 plus years.
