My youngest two, like Najah, won't have to take those exams because the equity movement Ms. Hannah-Jones' champions won the day.

The State Education Department has decided that the class of 2027 is the last that will have to pass the regents to graduate.

I've also seen the effect of replacing state test scores, grades, and attendance as admission rubrics for middle school and high school with lottery numbers.

It did lessen the number of white and Asian kids in good schools and increase black and Hispanic enrollment.

The exam was scheduled to be administered on June 1st.

But a spokesperson for the State Education Department says after a review following the May 14th shooting, officials had determined a question could impact students negatively.

The department, though, refused to give any additional information on the question of concern.

Ten people, of course, all of them black, were killed in the top-friendly supermarket when a white 18-year-old Peyton Gendron opened fire.

He is an approved continuing education provider recognized by the New York State Education Department.

And he's also, I mean, that's a lot of really impressive stuff, but he's also someone who believes, as we do, that people with high conflict patterns are not a lost cause.

And I finally got everybody's approval and I got funding for a couple of years study and went to the Averitt Park Central School District right outside of Albany, New York, our state capital.

And what I did is I wanted to see what I could do with the best, super intelligent, super motivated students.

Yeah, this is outrageous.

When I was in high school at Stuyvesant in New York, I had to take the Regents exam every year, and it really was an assurance that you knew the subject matter.

But now the New York State Board of Regents under Governor Kathy Jogel voted Monday morning to remove the Regents exam as a high school graduation requirement.

Starting with the class of 2028, students will not have to pass a traditional state Regents exam to earn a diploma.

Thumb them down.

They can't read the diploma.

While it hasn't been a problem locally, if voters really want to consider mergers but face a school board like Hancock that is split on the issue, the state should allow regional shared services, panels, or voter petitions to force the issue.

And for smaller school districts that are often the ones considering the mergers, the State Education Department could create a template for districts with fewer than 500 students that handle data and logistics through local BOCES rather than independent studies school mergers shouldn't be rubber stamped but they shouldn't be this difficult either either this is a process that should be changed on this past Thursday September 17th Bob Johnson gave the Chautauqua Town Historical Society September Talk in the Chautauqua Municipal Building.
