New Organizing Institute

Right.

So if you don't invest in the state parties or you don't invest in outside, there used to be a group called the New Organizing Institute.

But it imploded due to bad management, an absentee board and bad management.

We have to nurture institutions like that.

Yeah.

I saw that you spent a little time at that stage, maybe a little later, also at New Organizing Institute, which actually continues to come up on the podcast as a formative thing in the careers of a lot of the digital and other folks, organizing folks.

What was your experience that time with them?

Yeah, so I'd say I have sort of two formative experiences.

I'd say one is that is where the place I went to go make the transition from field and community organizing, you know, If you remember the Fight for a Fair Economy campaign with SEIU, I was just blind knocking blocks in cities talking about a fair economy right around Occupy, Wall Street, 99% helping organize folks to block bridges and do protests and that economic sort of organizing.

That was really impactful and it was really awesome to meet folks, but I wanted a way to sort of scale that a little bit and build my career.

And I went to digital organizing bootcamp at the New Organizing Institute.

It definitely changed the course of my life and career.
