Or like, you know, even players, and I'll probably babble on a little bit here, but even players at the NBL one level who say they want to get to a certain point and they say, oh yeah, I can't do this because I've got work, you know, and all that sort of stuff.
Brayden HeslehurstHOST
48:06
Well, I've coached people who you know, Jase, who are mothers, who have full-time jobs, who still play major roles at NBL1 level and everything, who are still finding time to work out every day, whether it's shooting, gym and all that sort of stuff.
Brayden HeslehurstHOST
48:22
So all that stuff is kind of excuses if you want to get to a certain point.
Brayden HeslehurstHOST
48:26
So I would say those two things are probably the biggest things I've seen across my time in coaching.
Andrew VossHOST
37:49
What we saw this week and, you know, fractured and dislocated ankles and Achilles and all of that.
Andrew VossHOST
37:56
I tell you, you had your own woes last year, didn't you? I remember you were playing, because you were still playing NBL 1, giving back to the junior club there at Bankstown, and then you had a bit of hamstring issues, but you ended up in hospital.
Jason CadeeGUEST
38:09
Mate, I tore my hammy off the bone.
Jason CadeeGUEST
38:12
Went through 15 years, never tore anything really and then all of a sudden one year out and I tear my hammy off the bone and end up in the hospital room having surgery.
Andrew VossHOST
6:59
And, you know, fractured and dislocated ankles and Achilles and all of that.
Andrew VossHOST
7:04
I tell you, you had your own woes last year, didn't you? I remember you were playing, because you were still playing NBL 1, giving back to the junior club there at Bankstown.

And then you had a bit of hamstring issues, but you ended up in hospital.
Jason CadeeGUEST
7:17
Mate, I tore my hammy off the bone.
Archie WoodhillGUEST
18:31
So I couldn't cutely say Gigi.
Archie WoodhillGUEST
18:33
Cause at the time I had a teammate named Gigi, uh, like, uh, Gorjak Gak whose nickname was Gigi so I couldn't call my girl cat Gigi so I changed it so it's just Moo Moo now and I flew it from Tassie to Melbourne for NBL1 and then ended up buying a car to drive it back to Sydney and then when I was coming here I didn't really know where I was living because it was kind of a bit of a spur of the moment thing so It's currently living at my sister's place who has five cats.
Archie WoodhillGUEST
19:04
So whenever I go back to Sydney, we go there and hang out with all the cats.
Archie WoodhillGUEST
19:09
Is Mumu enjoying life amongst all the cats? Mumu hated it to start because she'd been inside for like two years since I had her because I never wanted her to just run away.
Woody VHOST
32:51
Proud of the guy.
Rob ClaytonHOST
32:52
Yeah, someone I commentated probably I think my first year of NBL1, he's commentary, which has gone full circle now.
Rob ClaytonHOST
32:58
He's changed a couple of teams since then.
Rob ClaytonHOST
32:59
Yeah, he was looking good out there.
Rob ClaytonHOST
36:34
Maybe some quick thoughts for me on your Kingswoods.
Rob ClaytonHOST
36:37
Will Johnson, you know, I'd seen this guy do it up close at NBL1 level, albeit in a handful of games.
Rob ClaytonHOST
36:43
Loved him.
Rob ClaytonHOST
36:43
My dad was still talking about this guy on the way home.
Andrew GazeHOST
33:04
... and the, the pathways that they've, they've got in place, and how we can provide more exposure.
Andrew GazeHOST
33:10
I know every ga- and I know it's on- online, but you can watch every NBL1 game from around the country.
Andrew GazeHOST
33:15
Every single game you can actually watch online.
Andrew GazeHOST
33:18
So they do a pretty decent job, but obviously you can always do better.
Simon PetersHOST
17:49
They picked up Sarah Rose Smith, who's a Queensland COE graduate.
Simon PetersHOST
17:52
She's played five years at Colorado and, uh, plays for Eltham in the NBL1.
Simon PetersHOST
17:58
Um, now, Zhang Weili is a Chinese 32-year-old three-on-three champion.
Simon PetersHOST
18:07
She's played in the national team.
Simon PetersHOST
18:16
[laughs] Han Xu.
Simon PetersHOST
18:18
So Han Xu has moved over from Perth and will be at Geelong as well.
Simon PetersHOST
18:23
So, uh, just a quick run through their development players, Alex Connolly, Jasmine King, Millie McCarthy, and Poppy Stephens, who all play in the NBL1 South as well.
Simon PetersHOST
18:33
But, uh, team looks pretty good.
Chris PikeGUEST
2:56
So they've had to, had to make do there.
Chris PikeGUEST
2:58
And Preston Lugaskie, who's come across from the NBL1, he's a point guard as well.
Chris PikeGUEST
3:03
He's a development player, but he's out injured now at, at the moment as well.
Chris PikeGUEST
3:06
So we haven't been able to see him.
Jacinta GovindGUEST
33:11
Uh, which sounds great, but could also be detrimental.
Jacinta GovindGUEST
33:14
Um, but, uh, in NBL1 East, the Norths Bears women were very similar on paper, and when they played fast pace with space and unselfishly, they were unstoppable.
Jacinta GovindGUEST
33:31
They did go undefeated in the regular season, their arch nemesis Manly bringing them down, but it was just the, was just beautiful to watch.
Jacinta GovindGUEST
33:40
So I'm expecting the Sydney Flames to play with a similar style.
Jacinta GovindGUEST
36:14
Um, I think that's gonna be a tough one.
Jacinta GovindGUEST
36:16
There's a lot of new faces as well in that Adelaide Lightning group, so I'm not sure how much time they've had together.
Jacinta GovindGUEST
36:24
I know that the Flames have been having a lot of, um- ... trainings together, not just in pre-season, but during NBL1.
MalHOST
36:32
Mm.
