I highly recommend this book, the classic Nimitz biography by E.B. Potter, published by the Naval Institute Press, and a much more recent, Nimitz at War by Craig Symonds.

Uh, excellent biographies.

Huge amount to learn about that guy.

And, and he sends it, for some reason he sent it to the Naval Institute Press.

I mean, this is really one that, that you could have sent off, slush piled it off to, you know, to, to Macmillan or whatever.

But-

Yeah

... uh, the Naval Institute Press who do not publish fiction.

Don't publish fiction, do they? No.

[laughs] Sort of.

That design philosophy is why Hellcat pilots came home at a rate their predecessors could not have imagined two years earlier.

Source material today comes from Barrett Tillman's Hellcat, the F6F in World War II, published by the Naval Institute Press and the archives of the National Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola.

And, uh, Massive success.

There's the joke about, and I'm open that I'd want to be a SEAL, but there's the joke that the SEALs added a week to their training to BUDS so they could find their editor and publisher and get everything lined up before they'd serve for even a hot second.
