So I brought my friend, hey, can you hold this camera while I go meet this engineer who worked on the resonator with my dad.

i found him um actually my i think it was my uncle larry who put me in touch with him he had a contact or something and his name's mike beagle and again i don't know much about gear i look up this guy and i'm on tour with the band and i'm like this guy's name is mike beagle i'm going to see him tomorrow he's the founder of mutron And everyone's like, uh, Mutron, the effects pedals? And they're like, Jerry Garcia, Stevie Wonder? I'm like, yeah, I guess.

I was like, I guess he engineered this thing for my dad.

So that's how it started.

But then there's a DAC, so it converts it to analog.

And so it's kind of the best of both worlds because you have digital tracking, so little to no latency, And then you have analog oscillators, analog filters.

They're Mutron filters, so it's very like Mike Beagle stamp of filters.

And so you have this warmth and this human approach to the way it sounds, but you have digital accuracy.

No, I'm not.

I have one thing that I've kept for 30 plus years now, and it's I bought Elliot Easton's Mutron octave divider from Ewer Litzer Music in Boston, Massachusetts from Stan Chang when I was in the computer business.

I bought that for $35, and I also bought his Mutron flanger for $35.

I later sold the flanger for like $1,500, but I still have the Mutron, and I just had it worked on again.

I use that...

On The Devil Went Down to Georgia, we used it on the T-Ride record.

It sounds kind of like feedback used on a gazillion different tracks from a gazillion different artists.

And it may be the coolest invention of all time.

Then, of course, after the Black Ark, Scratch is involved in all kinds of other dub, mostly in collaboration with other people.

But, you know, again, what Scratch achieved at the Black Arc, very limited equipment, just the TEAC 4-track, a Mutron biphase, and a Roland Space Echo.

It's absolutely astounding.

It's interesting that Chris Blackwell gave him an 8-track and Scratch really didn't like using it.

So I have, oh, I didn't tell you.

So the wah effect, wah, wah, and then Mutron 3A.
