Hello, and welcome.

It's Perspectives on Mobile, the podcast from the Mobile Ecosystem Forum that we look at the different opinions, KPIs, people, stories, markets, that make the Mobile Ecosystem Forum.
Dario BettiHOST
0:40
And I'm very happy to say that today we talk about one of our key topics at MEF that has been for a while.
Dario BettiHOST
0:46
We talk about the large engagement market, and we do that with Conviva, one of the big name in the market, not just in telecom.
KharismaGUEST

We also have the data centers, uh, operating in Singapore, run by our sister company, uh, TDE or Tel-Telkom, uh, Data Ecosystem.
KharismaGUEST
1:29
Uh, we are a proud member of Mobile Ecosystem Forum for a few years already now.
KharismaGUEST
1:33
I think it's a, it's a great pleasure als- uh, for us also to working with MEF to facilitate the, the forum that, uh, we held for the-- in the last, uh, three years.
KharismaGUEST
1:44
Uh, the reason why we are, um, we feel like we privileged for us to participate with MEF because, uh, the benefit that we already gained from this collaboration with the MEF.

20 MINS LATER

KharismaGUEST
21:43
Uh, so this is used for the authentication, and this kind of model of the authentication has been done probably almost ten years i-- as far as I remember.
KharismaGUEST
21:53
And, uh, this has been considered as the safest way to authenticate the user.
KharismaGUEST
22:00
But what if it's no longer enough with the introduction, uh, the introduction of the AI? So this is something that now with the, uh, mobile ecosystem forum, we are, we are trying to find a better way to authenticate our user in a mobile subscriber.
KharismaGUEST
22:15
That's why we try to authen-- uh, and then this can be done silently, so without the users experience anything in their w-- uh, in their mobile phone.
Nicholas RossmanMODERATOR
23:20
It's more about how we deliver it, right? And I don't know how many people in the audience know, I think, Susan, what, MEF is about 20 years old now? 26 years old.
Nicholas RossmanMODERATOR
23:29
And when we were first formed, we weren't the Mobile Ecosystem Forum.
Nicholas RossmanMODERATOR
23:32
I don't know how many people know this, but we were the Mobile Entertainment Forum, and it really was around, uh, content, right? And at the time, I remember, 'cause I'm that old, like you were buying ringtones on your phone, and you needed to pay, a way to p- pay for those ringtones, right? And it was direct carrier billing, and that was like how, how, how MEF began.
Nicholas RossmanMODERATOR
23:50
So really, this is, you are the OG program for MEF, right? That's what, that's what it comes down to.

Dario BettiHOST

We look at, uh, the different people, the different topics, the different, uh, events that are making up these ecosystems, and difference is the key.
Dario BettiHOST
0:41
Today, we're talking of one topic which potentially is not different.
Dario BettiHOST
0:44
It's, uh, written in the DNA of the Mobile Ecosystem Forum when we started, um, 26 years ago.
Dario BettiHOST
0:51
The big thing at the time was content, and the fact that content was available on a mobile phone, incredible for the time, but it was available also to be paid, something that the Internet, as at the time was intended, uh, the PC Internet, was not really able to understand who you were and to charge you.
