Minnesota Marine Art Museum

I'm from Rochester, Minnesota, and I'm a trombonist who's interested in jazz music.

I'm really excited about the Minnesota Marine Art Museum's upcoming, um, New Look Masquerade Party.

It's part of their 20th anniversary celebration, and at this party, they're gonna be revealing a new work by Minnesotan composer Eric Hoyakusovan called Canvas to Composition.

And what the composer has done is he has taken four different artworks, and he's turned the visual artworks into sound.

So for each one of these four paintings that he's worked on, there's about a two-minute composition, um, where as you look at different textures and colors in the painting, you are presented with this sonification, this sound representation of the art.

So, uh, these works are definitely exciting for someone who maybe can't interact with the paintings visually, um, but they also add another layer for people who can.

That is gonna be available to see at this New Look Masquerade Party on Friday, October 2nd at the Minnesota Marine Art Museum, and it's also gonna become part of their permanent collection, so you'll be able to see this over time as well.

But that's when it's being revealed.
