I'm the Executive Director of SSPI, and this is the New York Space Business Roundtable.

And today's topic is the industrial base behind the defense of space.

So we're going to get ourselves started.

And part of this also relates to your story, which we're going to hear a lot about.

And as we see, this conversation will go well beyond retirement.

And just sort of had decided that must be, you know, the recipe for succeeding at life.

You know, so I took myself off to law school and I was working full time and, you know, attending the night program at Georgetown and managed to do well there.

And then, as you said, received an offer at a top law firm and practiced law in DC at a big Wall Street firm, Milbank, for over a decade.

And the transition that sort of presented itself in my particular case was the collision of motherhood and an 80-hour-a-week profession.

It says top U.S. legal firms are beginning to hire students in their first few months of law school, stepping up a war for talent and sparking criticism from students and some of the profession's leading executives.

Paul Weiss, Simpson Thatcher, and Milbank have said they would start application processes before Christmas for first-year students seeking summer associate roles, the entry ticket into big law, for 2028.

The summer roles would be a stepping stone to permanent jobs in 2029, which currently offers salaries of as much as $235,000 per year.

It's a significantly faster timeline than the traditional system in which law firms interviewed students at the end of their first year of law school.
