Mid-American Conference

So we shall see.

Clearly, last week, and again, Western Michigan, okay, they're the favorites to win the MAAC.

They won 10 games a year ago.

Not too bad.

So that's another lie for the Big Ten.

And then on top of all of this, just on the field on that day, you have 100 plus thousand people storming the field on a failed Mary that the ref gave you to beat a mid-American conference team that you were almost a four-touchdown favorite again.

And so you have all these students rushing the field as though they beat Ohio State for the national championship.

That's embarrassing even more than what the Big Ten did.

But as a smaller opposition, you can't just come out and go guns blazing, oh, they screwed us over, because then you may not play a Big Ten team again.

So Western Michigan was forced to handle the situation with class, which I think they did brilliantly in their statement and then in the press conference.

and then the Mid-American Conference putting out their statements, it was almost if they didn't act with class, it would have been more on how Western Michigan responded than Michigan and the Big Ten screwing up as early as they did.

And so now you have a lot of people that are looking at the Big Ten and Michigan saying, all right, if you've done this, for a non-conference game when your team played like poop, you've now set the precedent for this potentially happening again in a bigger game.

ohio at least last last week they had they looked like a football team that makes sense like you didn't see like five foot eight d tackles you didn't see fat corners you know like they were put together they looked like a competent outfit right then you watch bowling green and tarleton state and if you're gonna choose between those two just like take the logos off take the cut like You would probably guess that Tarleton State was the Division 1A team.

It was the MAAC conference member.

Do you have evaluation ability? I mean, all those things play into it, man.

You've got good coaches in the MAAC that are trying to get their start.

You've got great assistants that are now elsewhere from Oregon.

Oh, I'm sorry.

He's the commissioner of the Mid-American Conference.

And he wrote, after further study and investigation, this is about the Michigan-Western Michigan game.

After further study and investigation, it is now evident that replay protocol was not properly followed in determining whether time remained on the game clock at the conclusion of the Western Michigan versus Michigan football game.

It was an error in the application of the established replay protocol governing this specific end-of-game timing situation.

Had the protocol been properly followed and the program feed clock been used, no additional play would have been awarded, and Western Michigan would have won the game 12-7.

As a result, the Mid-American Conference has submitted formal appeals to the NCAA FBS Oversight Committee.

and college football playoff.

And at the end of the day, I mean, how many teams and programs can say that they have, you know, two former NFL head coaches as their coordinators? You know, you look at every game that Ohio State's going to be playing in this year, and they're probably going to have the edge at offensive and defensive coordinator because of that.

Speaking of advantages, how many programs need two clocks and one extra second to beat a mid-American conference team? Tyler, I'm wondering how badly have the Wolverines been getting roasted up in Ohio this week?

That's a great question.

Yeah, let's just say that Western Michigan has gained a lot more fans in the state of Ohio, Central Ohio especially.

I'll tell you, I think Western, A, let's get this out there first.

That's a pretty darn good football team out of the Mid-American Conference.

They played very well coached and played an excellent game.

Having said that, in the big house, Michigan shouldn't be in that close of a game.

The SEC is in FBS, the ACC, the Big 12.

The Mid-American Conference teams, who are certainly in a lower rung of FBS, but they are in FBS as well.

FCS is still part of Division I, but it is basically a half step down from FBS.

FCS stands for Football Championship Subdivision.

But I also understand that Ohio State lost the chance to repeat as national champions last year.

And the reasons why they missed the chance to repeat as national championships last year showed up for 30 minutes against one of the worst teams in the Mid-American Conference.

And so I understand any reason for pause.

But the way they were talking this week, whether it was Ryan Day, whether it was Austin Sierravel when we talked to him, they didn't think the issues were major.
