We were talking a little bit earlier about, we had a news poll question Friday about youth crime and should we be harder on youth crime or should we focus more on rehabilitation? And I know this is a conversation that a lot of people are having about this concept of gentle parenting and have we become too soft perhaps in the way that we parent.

And joining us this morning to talk about this is Dr. Jean Clinton, who's a child psychiatrist, and just wrote a brilliant article for McMaster News, McMaster University.

George has been a leading member of Houston society and has been particularly involved in the local South Asian community.

He received his BA with double honors in political science and philosophy from McMaster University in Canada and a doctor of jurisprudence from the South Texas College of Law.

George is considered one of the top immigration lawyers in the US.

The use of sodium bicarbonate in these critically ill patients with metabolic acidosis receiving vasopressors did not lead to a lower risk of major adverse kidney events within thirty days than placebo.

In an editorial, Marlies Ostermann from Guys's and St. Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust, London, and Deborah Cook from McMaster University, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, write that the rigorous SOdabic trial adds to the growing evidence about sodium bicarbonate treatment.

Whether, when, and in whom sodium bicarbonate therapy confers benefit for patients with metabolic acidosis remains under active investigation.

As clinical evidence evolves, the SOdabic trial adds a compelling new chapter to the latest book, but the full story is not yet written.

The home was originally built in 1868 for Arthur R. McMaster.

He's the nephew of William McMaster, founder of the McMaster University.

The Gothic Revival design was drawn up by architect William Young and constructed for the cost of $20,000.

The home features 26 rooms and 17 fireplaces, a beautiful estate on Jarvis Street, which was then known as Millionaire Row.

He holds the Michael DeGroote Chair in Stroke Prevention.

He leads the Brain Health and Stroke Program at the Population Health Research Institute and is the medical director of the Regional Stroke Program at Hamilton Health Sciences.

Wow, what a career he had in Hamilton, leading Tiger Cats to early success in his early days in Steel Town, and was a successful coach before that with McMaster University, and obviously with Western University, winning The Yates Cups and the Vanier Cup.

And is now enjoying the life in retirement.

But for me, my real entry point to the web is why I went away to university.

So I went to McMaster in Hamilton, Ontario.

And for me, that was really my origin story, spending so much time in the computer labs at mcmaster because i i did have a computer but i i didn't have like the internet on my computer in my dorm room and then student housing so i would just be at the computer lab every night you know doing some school work like let's let's make that clear i did get my b-com while i was at mcmaster but you know i was doing a lot of time learning about music and uh you know, just check out all these band websites, fan websites, mailing lists.

And then, yeah, like Yahoo Groups was like something very under-remembered, but like a really important part of fan communities.

So yeah, Eden Fest.

So they would have these like tents set up and it was literally...

It was almost very reminiscent of like the computer lab at McMaster, except these were all just like unfolding tables, probably provided by the catering team.

And the interesting thing about the web tent at Edenfest, this is a place you could just go online and check your email or surf the web, surf the information superhighway in 1996 because it was all new there.

So Mike Weiland is thinking a lot about the world his students are heading into.

He's a professor of engineering physics at McMaster University and teaches numerical methods for engineering and computational multi-physics.

Let me translate that for those of us who didn't study STEM.

The bulk of his courses are about what's happening when you ask a computer to solve a problem, like modeling airflow over a car, for example.

Gail Krantzberg is a professor emeritus and former lead of engineering and public policy at McMaster University.

And Daniel McFarlin is a professor at the School of Environment, Geography, and Sustainability at Western Michigan University.
