a major league rugby side, Austin, to go play for them.

And it was the middle of COVID.

I've got nothing else going on, so...

It feels like the Samoa question, what's the problem with USA Rugby? And I mean, there, that's a whole separate conversation.

The fact that they have so many teams that have folded in the MLR, and even when they released the squad, the touring squad of 28 or 30 players for PNC, I think like, was it 8 to 10 players had unattached clubs because they're all part of these clubs that have folded.

That's a crazy position to be in for a country that is going to be hosting World Cups.

And then again, World Rugby is backing down the line.

Like I was always trying to push down like the England pathway, like playing 15s and sevens and stuff.

But then like when I got to the point where I was like leading up to, they asked me, they're, thing is I got an agent to help me get into like I was playing at Rotherham Titans and he had good links to the MLR and he just asked me a question like do you know if you're eligible to play in America or Canada I was like I'm actually part Canadian like within a day I was like in touch with the Canada coach trying to get me come play in this tournament in Europe I said like with my studies I couldn't really fly over there and do anything but he said and then like he said like oh in a couple of months we're coming over to Europe do you want to come join us there I was like yeah 100%

And there's a bloke that I know in the content space who's trying to do a similar thing to you.

He's a bit more, I don't know if open, but a bit more direct about it in his content, his intention to play for Canada.

We're going to play Seattle.

It's an established MLR franchise.

Both of us are trying to get ready for the season.

As the Raptors, we're coming in with something.

Yeah.

A memorable person for sure.

You know, the Americans don't know it, but just like, I mean, like you said earlier in the conversation, like the MLR and how you've watched it grow.

And, uh, People are starting to catch on.

And now we're still kind of rock fighting with Canada.

And, you know, even since the dawn of MLR and pro rugby before that, even since we've had daily training professional environments...

Canada, the chasm between us and Japan has just gotten wider and wider and wider.

So that to me is like something's not working and there's something systematic upstream that really needs to be solved.

Like, we see it sprinkled occasionally.

You have the Noah Brown appearances, and he's been great on the wing.

He was great with Chicago in the MLR.

But, you know, and we've seen, we also see a couple other players that, you know, get called up.

The Knights will face the Panthers in one of next week's preliminary finals and the Dolphins and Roosters will square off in the other.

And former Fijian Drua head coach Glenn Jackson is the new head coach for the California Legion rugby team for the 2027 Major League Rugby season.

Jackson, who finished off with the Drua in the completion of the 2026 Super Rugby season in May, was also an assistant coach with the Flying Fijians at the 2023 Rugby World Cup in France.

The Legion club says Jackson will bring a remarkable breadth of experience across the professional game as an elite player, international referee and coach.
